FinReach Solutions, a specialist in credit guarantee facilitation for small businesses, has raised ₹21.9 crore in fresh funding to deepen access to formal credit for underserved entrepreneurs across India.

The round was led by Colossa Ventures, with participation from existing impact investors Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, Omidyar Network Fund Inc and Caspian SME Impact Fund IV. With this infusion, FinReach builds on the ₹32.5 crore it has previously raised from its current investor base, taking its total funding to ₹54.4 crore.

Funding to scale tech-led credit guarantees

The new capital will be deployed to scale FinReach’s operations and strengthen its risk and technology platform. The company plans to further enhance its proprietary analytics engine that assesses risk and facilitates credit guarantees quickly and at scale.

FinReach operates what it describes as India’s first privately led Credit Guarantee Program, aimed at unlocking lending for micro and small businesses, women-led enterprises, agri-focused ventures and climate-aligned enterprises. By connecting eligible guarantors with lenders, the platform helps reduce credit risk for banks and NBFCs, making it easier for viable small businesses to secure affordable loans.

The model is built around a technology-driven analytics stack that evaluates risk and enables credit access for MSMEs, while optimising capital efficiency for guarantors and lenders.

“Access to credit is a fundamental driver of economic empowerment,” said Suvalaxmi Chakraborty, Founder and Managing Director of FinReach. Describing micro and small enterprises as “the heartbeat of India’s local economies”, she underlined that FinReach’s mission is to bridge the persistent gap between formal lenders and entrepreneurs who remain unserved or underserved.

According to Chakraborty, the fresh fundraise will allow FinReach to expand its guarantee facilitation business and upgrade its risk and technology stack, with the goal of making lending “more inclusive and efficient” for small businesses that struggle to meet traditional collateral or documentation norms.

Chakraborty brings more than 35 years of leadership experience in banking and financial services, having held senior roles at ICICI Bank and Barclays Bank, and served as CEO of State Bank of Mauritius (India). That experience, the company says, continues to shape FinReach’s strategy and approach to building trust with both lenders and development-focused capital providers.

Investor backing for ‘infrastructure of trust’

For lead investor Colossa Ventures, the FinReach bet fits squarely within its thesis of backing companies that address structural gaps in India’s financial system through scalable, purpose-led innovation.

“At Colossa Ventures, we back businesses addressing India’s most critical gaps with scalable, purpose-led innovation,” said Ashu Suyash, Founder & CEO, Colossa Ventures. She described FinReach’s platform as a technology-driven credit guarantee and credit analytics stack that widens access to formal credit for underserved MSMEs.

By de-risking lenders and enabling viable entrepreneurs to secure timely, affordable capital, Suyash said, FinReach is helping build “the next-generation infrastructure of trust for small business lending in India.” The investment, she added, reflects Colossa’s conviction in this approach to expanding economic inclusion.

FinReach’s cap table also reflects strong participation from established impact investors. The Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, Omidyar Network Fund Inc and Caspian SME Impact Fund IV have backed the company across rounds, signalling confidence in its role at the intersection of technology, development finance and MSME credit.

Backed by global development institutions

Beyond equity investors, FinReach has forged strategic partnerships with prominent development finance institutions and global foundations. These include British International Investment (BII), the UK’s development finance institution and impact investor, as well as the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation.

These partnerships are positioned not just as capital alliances but as long-term collaborations focused on widening financial inclusion and advancing women’s entrepreneurship in India. By working with such institutions, FinReach is aligning its guarantee facilitation efforts with broader goals around inclusive growth and impact.

Focus on smaller towns, women and farmers

Founded in December 2020, FinReach is explicitly focused on Tier-3 to Tier-5 regions, where micro-entrepreneurs, women-led businesses and smallholder farmers routinely struggle to access formal loans due to a lack of collateral and limited credit histories.

By stepping in as a facilitator of credit guarantees and risk assessment, the company aims to ease lender concerns while giving small businesses a realistic pathway into the formal financial system. The model thus targets one of the most intractable problems in MSME lending: lenders’ aversion to extending credit to either thin-file or first-time borrowers, even when the underlying business is viable.

De-risking lenders, unlocking local growth

FinReach positions its work at the nexus of risk mitigation and local economic development, absorbing a portion of the perceived risk via guarantees and applying data-led analytics to the evaluation of borrowers, building confidence among lenders and opening the flow of credit to segments that have traditionally been left out.

In doing so, the company’s work is described as not just a financial intervention but a driver of broader economic outcomes, entrepreneurship, job creation and sustainable local growth across India’s smaller cities and rural districts.

With fresh capital now in place and a sharpened focus on scaling its risk and technology stack, FinReach enters its next phase with a clear mandate: to expand the reach of credit guarantees and make formal lending to micro and small enterprises more predictable, data-driven and inclusive.
