Whizzo, a materials science startup based in Bengaluru, has raised $15 million in Series A funding led by Fundamentum, Nandan Nilekani’s deep-tech venture fund. LB Investment from South Korea also joined, making its first direct investment in India. Lightspeed Venture Partners and BEENEXT continued their support. With this funding, Whizzo plans to boost research, develop more intellectual property, and grow its global operations.

Whizzo brings together research, product development, prototyping, and large-scale manufacturing on one platform. This approach helps clients in industries like industrial, protective, agricultural, and specialty textiles get faster results.

Founders and Leadership

Shrestha Kukreja, Whizzo’s founder and CEO, started the company in 2024 after working as an executive at Zetwerk. Kukreja focuses on a science-first approach, building the business around high-performance materials that meet industrial needs, provide useful features, and follow global standards.

The leadership team includes 65 professionals, such as materials scientists, process engineers, and operations experts. About 10 percent of the staff works in R&D, showing a strong focus on developing new technology and intellectual property. Kukreja also manages Whizzo’s R&D lab in Gurugram, which is the main center for creating advanced polymer and fiber solutions.

Funding Round Details

The Series A round led by Fundamentum signals strong confidence in Whizzo’s business model. Ashish Kumar, co-founder and general partner at Fundamentum, highlighted that the startup’s integrated research and manufacturing approach represents a long-term competitive advantage.

LB Investment’s involvement is notable as it is their first investment in an Indian startup. Their interest shows that Whizzo’s technology has global appeal and can reach markets outside India. Lightspeed Venture Partners and BEENEXT, who led the $4.2 million seed round in January 2025, also continued their support. That seed round helped Whizzo set up key R&D facilities, start manufacturing partnerships, and build a supply chain across Asia.

Products, Clients, and Market Reach

Whizzo plans to use the new funding to grow its R&D operations, file patents for its own technologies, and improve its supply chain in Vietnam, China, Bangladesh, and Indonesia. The company is also hiring more science and engineering experts, especially in non-woven fabrics and composites, to build its technical skills.

Kukreja wants Whizzo to be a trusted partner for B2B clients around the world by shortening product development times and providing complete solutions that blend innovation, quality, and speed.
