Delhi-based beverage retail startup Basil Health has raised $1.5 million in a pre-Series A funding round. The investment was led by Whiteboard Capital and Brigade REAP, along with participation from the consumer-focused Barbershop Fund. Angel investors including Deep Bajaj and Siddharth Kothari also joined the round.

The company said the newly raised capital will be used to expand its presence in more cities, strengthen its supply chain infrastructure, and invest in brand development and team growth. The funding marks an important step for the young startup as it aims to build a large-scale organized network for fresh beverage retail across India.

Building an Organized Fresh Beverage Retail Network

Founded in 2023 by Harshita Kejriwal, Akshay Chaudhari, and Karan Dwivedi, Basil Health focuses on providing fresh beverages through a technology-driven retail model.

The company is developing an organized national network using compact kiosks and proprietary automated beverage machines. Its approach combines physical retail touchpoints with technology to deliver standardized beverages while maintaining operational efficiency.

According to the startup, its goal is to build a scalable and structured retail system for fresh beverages, a category that remains largely fragmented in India. By combining automation, dense distribution, and a recognizable brand presence, Basil Health aims to establish itself in the next phase of organized beverage retail.

Technology at the Core of Operations

Technology plays a central role in the company’s operations. Basil Health has developed in-house IoT-enabled systems that blend fresh ingredients directly inside the serving cup. This method allows the machines to produce beverages that match café-quality standards while maintaining consistency across locations.

The technology also enables real-time monitoring and operational control. With these capabilities, the company can track performance, maintain quality standards, and optimize operations across its growing network of kiosks and automated machines.

Such automation helps the company standardize beverage preparation while keeping operational costs manageable. It also allows Basil Health to scale distribution beyond traditional retail storefronts, opening opportunities for placements in high-traffic indoor locations.

Growing Footprint Across Key Urban Markets

Basil Health currently operates more than 70 active touchpoints across multiple cities. These include kiosks and automated beverage machines located across three key regions: Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, and Chandigarh.

The company’s retail format focuses on compact and flexible infrastructure. Its primary kiosks are approximately 50 square feet in size, designed to fit efficiently within busy commercial areas. In addition, the startup offers smaller plug-and-play automated beverage machines that require only about 8 square feet of space.

These machines can be installed inside offices, hospitals, universities, and shopping malls. This format allows the company to reach consumers in locations where traditional beverage outlets may not be feasible.

Expansion Plans for the Next Three Years

Looking ahead, Basil Health plans to significantly expand its network. The company aims to scale to 1,000 touchpoints within the next three years by deploying a combination of kiosks and automated beverage machines.

This expansion strategy focuses on dense distribution in urban environments, allowing the brand to increase accessibility while maintaining operational efficiency through automation. The company believes that combining technology, compact retail formats, and strong brand presence will help it scale its fresh beverage offerings across multiple cities.

With the new funding, Basil Health intends to strengthen its operational backbone while building a broader footprint in India’s evolving beverage retail landscape.
