With Grand Theft Auto VI heading toward its November release, players deciding whether to pre-order the game have two editions to consider. The standard edition is priced at $79.99, while the Ultimate Edition costs $100.
That $20 difference does more than add a few cosmetic items. Rockstar’s Ultimate Edition includes exclusive vehicles, character customisation options, weapons, and side content tied to Jason and Lucia’s world.
What the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition includes
The biggest difference between the two editions is the additional content available to Ultimate Edition owners.
Players paying $100 get access to exclusive shops offering cosmetic options for Jason and Lucia. These include items such as tattoos, hairstyles, clothing and vehicle modifications.
The edition also includes two outfit packs called Vice City Styles and Goodtime Gear, giving the protagonists additional looks beyond what is available in the standard version.
For players particularly interested in GTA 6’s vehicles, the Ultimate Edition adds three exclusive rides.
They include the ’95 Grotti Cheetah, a sports car with a distinctly mid-1990s design, the Shitzu Squalo boat, and the ’67 Vapid Dominator buggy, which is designed for off-road driving.
Two exclusive side activities stand out
The Ultimate Edition also adds side content rather than limiting its extras to cosmetic items.
One of the activities is PTT Youngin$ Illegal Goods Store, which involves raiding a gang compound to collect exclusive rewards.
The other is the Classic Car Collection. This set of missions revolves around finding project cars, collecting them and restoring them.
These additions give the $20 upgrade a different character from the usual deluxe-edition package, where the bulk of the extras are often limited to cosmetic items.
Exclusive weapons and customised sidearms
The additional content extends to Jason and Lucia’s weapons.
Ultimate Edition owners receive the Hawk & Morgan revolvers as part of their weapon loadout. Jason and Lucia’s sidearm pistols will also feature custom engravings.
For players who care about the finer cosmetic details of their characters and equipment, these additions provide another reason to consider the higher-priced edition.
GTA 6 pre-order bonuses add more extras
The Ultimate Edition also comes with two pre-order bonuses.
The first is the Vice City Vintage pack, which focuses on cosmetic items inspired by the 1980s aesthetic associated with Vice City.
The second is one free month of GTA+.
GTA+ provides benefits within Rockstar’s existing ecosystem, including bonus money and discounted vehicles in GTA Online, along with a rotating selection of classic Rockstar Games titles and other benefits.
However, GTA Online is not currently available in GTA VI, so the GTA+ benefit should be viewed separately from the game’s launch content.
Is the $20 difference only about cosmetics?
Not quite.
The standard edition costs $79.99, while the Ultimate Edition raises the price to $100, putting the difference at $20.
For that additional amount, players get more than outfits and visual customisation. The package includes three exclusive vehicles, additional cosmetic options, weapons, customised sidearms and two pieces of exclusive side content.
Whether those extras justify spending another $20 will depend on how much value players place on exclusive vehicles, missions and customisation. What is clear from the listed contents is that the Ultimate Edition goes beyond simply adding a handful of costumes to the game.
