boAt co-founder Aman Gupta has highlighted India’s growing electronics manufacturing capabilities, revealing that the company has produced more than 8 crore products domestically through partnerships with manufacturers such as Zetwerk.

Reflecting on boAt’s journey since 2016, Gupta said the shift from relying on imports to manufacturing at scale in India shows how far the country’s industrial ecosystem has progressed.

In a LinkedIn post, Gupta recalled that when boAt began operations in 2016, the company sourced its products from countries including China, Vietnam and Taiwan because India’s audio manufacturing ecosystem was still at an early stage.

“When we started boAt in 2016, we imported everything from China or Vietnam or Taiwan. The ecosystem to manufacture audio products in India barely existed,” Gupta wrote.

Nearly a decade later, the situation has changed significantly for the consumer electronics brand. Gupta said boAt has now manufactured more than 8 crore products in India with the support of partners including Zetwerk.

The milestone reflects boAt’s transition from an import-dependent business to one increasingly supported by domestic manufacturing capabilities.

For Gupta, the achievement represents more than a change in the company’s supply chain. He sees it as evidence of the broader progress being made by India’s manufacturing and entrepreneurship ecosystem.

“What once seemed impossible is now happening at scale,” he said, adding that the foundations being built today could create significant opportunities for Indian entrepreneurs in the coming decade.

Gupta also congratulated Zetwerk co-founders Amrit Acharya and Srinath Ramakkrushnan and their team, referring to the company’s IPO in his post.

“Congratulations to Amrit Acharya, Srinath Ramakkrushnan and the entire Zetwerk team on their IPO today. Proud of what we’ve built together and what you’re building for India,” he wrote.

The IPO reference was made by Gupta in his LinkedIn statement. Independent confirmation of the listing and its details was not available from the material provided.

Beyond the manufacturing partnership, Gupta praised venture capital firm Accel India for a film celebrating Zetwerk’s founders.

He specifically acknowledged Accel’s Prashanth Prakash and Prayank Swaroop for their role in the initiative, which featured the children of Zetwerk’s Ankit and Srinath.

Gupta said the film captured the imagination and determination of children, drawing a connection between those qualities and the mindset of successful entrepreneurs.

He summed up that entrepreneurial spirit with the Hindi phrase “Hum bhi bana lenge,” reflecting the belief that ambitious ideas can be turned into reality.

“The best founders are probably the ones who never stopped dreaming like kids,” Gupta wrote.

His remarks bring attention to a significant change in boAt’s business journey. A company that initially depended entirely on overseas suppliers has now reached a domestic production milestone of more than 8 crore products.

The experience also illustrates the importance of manufacturing partnerships in helping Indian consumer brands expand local production, an area Gupta believes will play an important role in the country’s next phase of entrepreneurship.
