Music licensing startup Hoopr has strengthened its growth momentum by raising ₹4 crore in the first tranche of its extended pre-Series A funding round. The investment was led by Inflection Point Ventures, with participation from several family offices and existing investors. This recent infusion values the Mumbai-based company at a post-money valuation of ₹160 crore, bringing its total funding raised to ₹18 crore. The company is continuing discussions with additional investors as it looks to close more capital in this round.

Building the Next Chapter of Hoopr Smash

A significant part of the new funding will go towards expanding Hoopr Smash, the platform’s self-serve marketplace that simplifies the process of finding and licensing music. Hoopr Smash has become a core pillar of the company’s business model because it allows creators to discover tracks quickly, filter music by mood or style, and access licensing options without dealing with complicated legal procedures.

The investment will help Hoopr strengthen the user experience further, improve backend capabilities, and introduce more seamless workflows for creators who frequently need legally compliant music for their videos, campaigns, and branded content. The company also plans to grow its team across critical functions such as engineering, curation, and partnerships, ensuring it can support increasing demand from both creators and businesses.

A Growing Library Designed for Modern Storytellers

Founded in 2021 by Gaurav Dagaonkar and Meghna Mittal, Hoopr was built to address a major gap: the need for accessible, copyright-safe music for India’s fast-growing creator and brand ecosystem. The platform offers over 12,000 copyright-cleared tracks and sound effects, giving creators a wide range of options for everything from YouTube videos and Instagram Reels to marketing films and digital advertisements.

This‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ expanding collection features tunes covering a wide range of styles, emotions, and local influences. If a creator is looking for an energetic, dramatic, quiet, cheerful, or nostalgic track, the carefully organized classification of the platform helps very much in picking the rightful audio. In the case of companies, it is a guarantee of their production processes becoming more efficient and thus, the chances of copyright infringements occurring, which have been intensified lately because of the more rigorous enforcement of rules over digital platforms, are ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌lowered.

Empowering Independent Musicians With Fairer Earnings

Besides‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ being a platform for creators, Hoopr is considerably helping India’s independent musicians. By the company’s money-sharing policy, the artists are allowed to take a share of the licensing money after the first production and curation expenses have been paid. In the last three years, Hoopr has partnered with over 300 independent artists spanning both regional and contemporary ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌genres.

During this period, the company has distributed over ₹4.5 crore in royalties, offering musicians a dependable and recurring income stream. This has allowed many artists, producers, composers, and sound designers, to find visibility and earnings opportunities in an industry where monetization can often be unpredictable.

A Trusted Choice Among Creators and Leading Brands

Hoopr has built a strong network of over 30,000 creators using its music for digital storytelling. This includes popular personalities across food, travel, lifestyle, technology, entertainment, and educational content. The platform’s user-friendly tools, clean licensing system, and diverse catalog have made it especially useful for creators who publish videos frequently and need legally safe audio without delays.

On the enterprise side, Hoopr serves more than 180 brands and corporate clients, including well-known names from retail, FMCG, entertainment, e-commerce, and consumer products. Companies such as Myntra, Marico, Sony LIV, Meesho, Himalaya, Cadbury, and Mumbai Indians rely on the platform for compliant music in their campaigns and branded communication.

Strengthening the Music Licensing Ecosystem Through Partnerships

To expand its music catalog and maintain transparent royalty practices, Hoopr has partnered with key industry stakeholders. Its collaborations include associations with Yash Raj Films Music, Universal Music, Saga Music, Merchant Records, and Adobe. The company also works closely with the Indian Performing Rights Society (IPRS) to ensure responsible usage, proper rights management, and fair payouts to composers and publishers.

Ready for a Bigger Future

Hoopr‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ is getting ready for the next stage of growth following new money and good market traction. The startup intends to increase its platform capacity, feature more local music, make more creators segments of its brand, and speed up its move into worldwide markets. In essence, the idea behind it all is to establish a reliable, fair, and user-friendly community that attracts creators, whereby they get the music they need in a secure environment and musicians get both the fame and the money that are their ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌due.
