Premium gourmet retail startup Foodstories has secured Rs 50 crore in a fresh funding round led by Nikhil Kamath, co-founder of Zerodha. Existing investor Narotam Sekhsaria Family Office also participated in the investment round, providing additional support for the company’s next phase of growth.

The newly raised capital will be used to strengthen Foodstories’ digital business, expand its delivery infrastructure, and accelerate the growth of its retail network across key Indian markets. The company shared the development through an official announcement.

Building a Modern Gourmet Retail Ecosystem

Founded in 2021 by sisters Avni Biyani and Ashni Biyani, Foodstories has positioned itself as a premium gourmet food and lifestyle platform. The company operates experiential retail stores alongside a growing digital commerce network, offering customers access to a curated range of products including organic produce, international food ingredients, and wellness-focused offerings.

Foodstories currently serves consumers across Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Mumbai through a combination of physical stores and digital delivery channels. Its retail locations are designed to offer more than a conventional shopping experience by integrating food, lifestyle, and wellness elements under one roof.

The company also operates in-store wellness cafés, creating an environment that blends retail and hospitality while catering to consumers seeking premium and health-conscious products.

Combining Retail, Hospitality and Commerce

Foodstories says its business model brings together experiential retail, hospitality, and digital commerce in a single platform. The approach is aimed at creating a seamless shopping experience while helping producers and brands reach a broader consumer base.

By curating products from a wide range of categories and suppliers, the company seeks to connect consumers with high-quality gourmet and lifestyle offerings. At the same time, it provides producers with access to an expanding retail and digital distribution network.

This integrated model reflects a growing trend in premium retail, where physical stores serve as experience centers while digital channels support convenience and wider market reach.

Founders Backed by Strong Consumer Brand Experience

Ashni and Avni Biyani are also the co-founders of Think9, a brand co-creation platform focused on building and scaling consumer brands. Through Think9, the founders have helped launch and develop several direct-to-consumer brands across different categories.

These include SuperYou in the protein segment, Good Bug in gut health, Anaar in footwear and accessories, and BiE in the clean beauty category. Their experience in consumer brand building has contributed to the development of Foodstories’ retail and product strategy.

Expanding Presence Across Major Cities

Foodstories has steadily expanded its physical footprint since launch. The company currently operates stores in Delhi, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad and recently entered the Mumbai market with a flagship outlet in Bandra.

As part of its expansion plans, the company is preparing to open another store in Mumbai’s Lokhandwala area. The move is expected to strengthen its presence in one of India’s largest consumer markets and support growing demand for premium food and lifestyle products.

The latest funding is expected to help accelerate these expansion efforts while enhancing customer reach through both physical and digital channels.

Omnichannel Strategy at the Core

A key element of Foodstories’ growth strategy is its omnichannel approach. Customers can place orders through the company’s e-commerce platform, WhatsApp, and phone calls, enabling flexible purchasing options and localized fulfillment.

By combining physical retail stores with a robust digital backbone, Foodstories aims to offer a seamless shopping experience while improving delivery efficiency and customer convenience.

With fresh capital in hand and expansion plans underway, the company is focused on strengthening its position in India’s premium gourmet retail market through a blend of technology, curated products, and experience-driven retail.
