Pune-based cleantech startup NovorbisItus has raised ₹13.35 crore in a seed funding round led by Rainmatter, the investment initiative of Zerodha. Rockstud Capital also participated in the round, while Indorient Financial Services advised the transaction.
The company builds emission control and air purification systems for decentralised pollution sources such as diesel generator sets and crematoriums. Its solutions are designed as retrofits, allowing existing infrastructure to reduce emissions without full equipment replacement.
NovorbisItus will use the fresh capital to scale deployment of its current products, expand its portfolio, and work on newer applications for boilers, large industrial facilities including steel plants, and on-site carbon capture technologies.
Founded by Harsh Neekhra, Gagan Tripathi and Divyank Gupta, the startup began with a filter-less Retrofit Emission Control Device, or RECD, for diesel generator sets. The product is ARAI-certified and built to help industrial and commercial users meet CPCB emission norms, including CPCB IV+ standards.
The company later developed the Crematorium Air Purification System, known as CAPS. The system has been certified by IIT Bombay for reducing air pollution by 90 to 95 percent.
Harsh Neekhra, Founder and CEO of NovorbisItus, said the company began when the founders were second-year college students in Indore, driven by the idea of fixing air pollution at its source. He said the funding will help the company scale its technology, widen its product range, and accelerate adoption in sectors where emission control has remained limited.
Rainmatter’s Climate and Deep-tech Investment Lead Abhinav Negi said DG set emissions and crematorium pollution are urgent and underserved problems. He said Novorbis is building technology suited for Indian conditions, backed by real deployments and a stronger compliance environment.
Rockstud Capital Founder and Managing Partner Abhishek Agrawal said the startup stands out for creating a certified and commercially deployable emission control solution in a segment that is becoming essential as emission norms tighten.
NovorbisItus was founded in 2019 and began commercial sales of its RECD product in 2022. Pune is now its primary base for production, research and development, and distribution as it expands across India.
