Apple has revised prices across several older iPhone models in India following the debut of the iPhone 18 Pro series and the new foldable iPhone Duo. The increases affect the iPhone 16, iPhone 17e, iPhone 17 and iPhone Air, with some variants now costing as much as Rs 65,000 more than before.
With the iPhone 18 Pro Series and iPhone Duo releases, Apple has not only launched new phones in its India line-up but has also hiked prices for some other already existing products which form part of its non-Pro line-up.
These increases are noteworthy in certain cases. The iPhone 17e begins at Rs 79,900 while the starting price of the iPhone 17 is Rs 99,900. The iPhone Air is a higher-priced phone now starting at Rs 1,49,900.Importantly, buyers are paying more for the same hardware. The price changes have not been accompanied by specification upgrades or other hardware improvements to the affected iPhone 17 series models or the iPhone 16.
iPhone 17e price in India rises by up to Rs 20,000
The iPhone 17e sees one of the most noticeable revisions at the more affordable end of Apple’s current range.
Its 256GB version has gone from Rs 64,900 to Rs 79,900, an increase of Rs 15,000. The 512GB model, previously priced at Rs 84,900, now costs Rs 1,04,900, making it Rs 20,000 more expensive.
That also creates an unusual shift in Apple’s pricing ladder. The entry-level iPhone 17e now costs the same amount that the iPhone 17 did immediately before the latest launch event.
iPhone 17 now starts at Rs 99,900
Apple has also raised prices for the standard iPhone 17.
The 256GB iPhone 17 now costs Rs 99,900, compared with its earlier price of Rs 82,900. That is a Rs 17,000 increase.
For the 512GB model, the price has climbed from Rs 1,02,900 to Rs 1,24,900, a difference of Rs 22,000.
iPhone Air gets the steepest price increase
The sharpest increases are seen on the iPhone Air, particularly at the top end of its storage range.
The 256GB model has moved from Rs 1,19,900 to Rs 1,49,900, while the 512GB version now costs Rs 1,74,900, up from Rs 1,39,900.
The biggest jump applies to the 1TB iPhone Air. Its price has increased from Rs 1,59,900 to Rs 2,24,900, a rise of Rs 65,000.
Revised iPhone prices in India
| iPhone model | Storage | Old price | New price | Increase |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| iPhone 16 | 128GB | Rs 69,900 | Rs 79,900 | Rs 10,000 |
| iPhone 17e | 256GB | Rs 64,900 | Rs 79,900 | Rs 15,000 |
| iPhone 17e | 512GB | Rs 84,900 | Rs 1,04,900 | Rs 20,000 |
| iPhone 17 | 256GB | Rs 82,900 | Rs 99,900 | Rs 17,000 |
| iPhone 17 | 512GB | Rs 1,02,900 | Rs 1,24,900 | Rs 22,000 |
| iPhone Air | 256GB | Rs 1,19,900 | Rs 1,49,900 | Rs 30,000 |
| iPhone Air | 512GB | Rs 1,39,900 | Rs 1,74,900 | Rs 35,000 |
| iPhone Air | 1TB | Rs 1,59,900 | Rs 2,24,900 | Rs 65,000 |
The revised figures show that the increases become considerably larger as buyers move towards higher-storage configurations, particularly in the iPhone Air range.
Why have older iPhones become more expensive?
The price revisions come amid higher manufacturing costs, with the global memory-chip shortage identified as one of the factors putting pressure on costs. Apple had reportedly held back from revising prices until the introduction of its latest Pro devices.
That means the company’s newest launch has been accompanied by a wider reset of its Indian iPhone pricing, rather than the usual pattern of older models simply becoming cheaper after a new generation arrives.
iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max leave Apple’s active lineup
Apple has meanwhile removed the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max from its active store lineup following the arrival of the iPhone 18 Pro series and the foldable iPhone Duo.
Existing stock may still be available through retailers until remaining inventory is sold.
iPhone Duo starts at Rs 2,99,900 in India
Apple’s first foldable iPhone sits at an entirely different end of the pricing spectrum.
The iPhone Duo starts at Rs 2,99,900 for 256GB storage. The 512GB version is priced at Rs 3,24,900, while the 1TB model costs Rs 3,74,900. The highest-end 2TB version carries a price tag of Rs 4,49,900.
What about the standard iPhone 18?
Apple did not introduce a standard iPhone 18 alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series and iPhone Duo at its September event.
Apple is expected to divide the iPhone 18 generation between two launch periods, with the standard iPhone 18 and a more affordable iPhone 18e reportedly planned for spring 2027.
Until those models arrive, the iPhone 17, iPhone 17e and iPhone Air are set to remain Apple’s main non-Pro iPhone options.
For Indian buyers, that makes the latest revision particularly relevant. Apple’s current-generation Pro and foldable devices may be attracting the headlines, but anyone shopping lower down the lineup is now looking at a substantially different price sheet too.
