Godrej Consumer Products MD and CEO Sudhir Sitapati will serve a five-year term on the Asian Paints board, while Milind Sarwate has secured approval for a second term as Independent Director.
Asian Paints shareholders have approved the appointment of Sudhir Sitapati, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Godrej Consumer Products, as an Independent Director on the company’s board.
The approval was granted at Asian Paints’ 80th Annual General Meeting held on July 9, 2026. Sitapati has been appointed as an Additional and Independent Director for a five-year term, beginning May 29, 2026, and continuing until May 28, 2031.
Sitapati has led Godrej Consumer Products as its MD and CEO since 2021. Before joining the company, he spent more than two decades at Unilever, taking on leadership responsibilities across India, Europe, Southeast Asia and Africa.
His last position at Hindustan Unilever was Executive Director for Foods and Refreshments. Sitapati also chairs the Confederation of Indian Industry’s FMCG Committee and has previously served as co-chair of the CII National Committee on Food Processing.
His appointment brings extensive consumer business and operating experience to the Asian Paints board at a time when established consumer-facing companies are drawing on leaders with experience across brands, categories and international markets.
Shareholders have also approved the reappointment of Milind Sarwate as an Independent Director for a second five-year term. His new term will run from October 21, 2026, to October 20, 2031.
Sarwate has more than four decades of experience spanning finance, governance, audit, risk management, strategy and board oversight. His professional career includes senior finance and leadership roles at consumer products companies such as Godrej Soaps and Marico.
He currently serves as an Independent Director on the boards of Asian Paints, CEAT, Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services, OmniActive Health Technologies and Viyash Scientific.
Sarwate is also the Founder and Designated Partner of Increate Value Advisors LLP and Increate Social Value Advisors & Resourcers LLP.
The approvals retain Sarwate’s governance and financial expertise on the board while bringing Sitapati’s experience in consumer goods, brand-led businesses and multinational operations into Asian Paints’ leadership framework.
