After Sabeer Bhatia and Ashneer Grover, Ragini Das has emerged as another prominent voice from India’s startup ecosystem openly criticising the government and its handling of public dissent.

Her strongly worded Instagram stories add to a growing conversation about influential figures from the business and startup community speaking out on politically sensitive issues.

While her posts do not explicitly name Prime Minister Narendra Modi, their sharp criticism of police action and the use of state power signals a willingness to question those in authority, even as the controversy surrounding the protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar continues.

What Is the Protest Against CEC Gyanesh Kumar About?

The controversy comes amid reports of a youth-led protest in Delhi demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

According to the account of the demonstration, protesters have raised objections to a revision of electoral rolls, alleging that the exercise could benefit Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party.

The protesters’ central concern is the fairness of the voter-list revision process and its potential implications for electoral participation.

Why the Instagram Stories Stand Out

As an executive associated with Google’s startup ecosystem in India, Das occupies a visible position within the country’s technology and entrepreneurship community.

Das’s decision to share messages criticising the use of police and state power brings a prominent corporate professional into a politically sensitive public conversation.

Electoral Roll Revision at the Centre of the Dispute

Apart from the public response on social media, the issue at hand is one of integrity within India’s electoral process.

Those against the alleged amendment of the electoral roll insist that there must be transparency in the process to ensure that all eligible citizens are included.
