Climate-focused agribusiness startup Farm Watt Innovations has raised Rs 32.5 crore (approximately $3.36 million) in a funding round co-led by IAN Alpha Fund and Rainmatter. The fresh investment will support the company’s efforts to strengthen India’s agricultural biomass supply chain and accelerate the adoption of renewable energy solutions.
The funding marks an important milestone for the young startup as it continues building infrastructure that connects farmers with the country’s growing bioenergy sector while addressing the challenge of agricultural waste management.
Funding to Strengthen Biomass Infrastructure
Farm Watt Innovations said it will use the newly raised capital to expand and improve its biomass supply chain. The company plans to increase its biomass collection network, establish additional aggregation hubs, invest in machinery, and expand its workforce to support its growing operations.
These investments are expected to improve the company’s ability to collect, process, and transport agricultural biomass efficiently, ensuring a steady supply of feedstock for bioenergy facilities across India.
By enhancing its operational capabilities, the startup aims to support the country’s increasing demand for sustainable biomass while creating a more organized agricultural waste collection ecosystem.
Building a Sustainable Solution for Crop Residue
Founded in 2023 by Kumar Neelendu, Farm Watt Innovations focuses on aggregating and supplying agricultural biomass to compressed biogas (CBG) plants and other bioenergy facilities.
The company works to convert agricultural residue into valuable biomass feedstock that can be used for renewable energy production. Through this approach, it seeks to provide a practical alternative to crop residue burning, an issue that continues to affect air quality and environmental sustainability in several agricultural regions.
Instead of allowing farm waste to be burned in fields, the startup facilitates its collection and transportation for use in bioenergy production, helping create value from agricultural residues.

Expanding Operations Across Multiple States
Farm Watt Innovations currently operates 15 biomass aggregation hubs spread across six states. These hubs serve as collection and processing points for agricultural biomass before it is supplied to bioenergy projects.
The company now plans to significantly expand its geographical footprint. According to the startup, its future operations will extend across Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Bihar.
The planned expansion is expected to strengthen the company’s biomass collection capabilities while supporting the growing network of bioenergy facilities across these regions.
Long-Term Focus on Bioenergy Production
Beyond supplying biomass to existing facilities, Farm Watt Innovations has outlined plans to build its own portfolio of renewable energy assets.
The startup said it intends to develop compressed biogas (CBG), bio-pellet, and biochar plants as it expands its presence in India’s bioenergy ecosystem. These projects are aimed at broadening the company’s role within the renewable energy value chain by participating not only in biomass aggregation but also in downstream bioenergy production.
The planned facilities align with the company’s long-term strategy of supporting cleaner energy solutions through the effective utilization of agricultural biomass.
Strengthening India’s Renewable Energy Ecosystem
India’s bioenergy sector is witnessing increasing interest as agricultural biomass becomes an important feedstock for renewable energy production. Companies operating in this space are working to improve biomass collection, logistics, and processing to ensure a reliable supply for bioenergy projects.
Farm Watt Innovations’ latest funding is expected to help the company strengthen these capabilities while expanding its operational network across key agricultural states.
With fresh capital from IAN Alpha Fund and Rainmatter, the startup plans to scale its biomass aggregation infrastructure, increase collection capacity, and continue supporting renewable energy projects through a more efficient agricultural biomass supply chain.
