Global tech firm Yango Group has announced a partnership between its service platform Yango and African payments company Flutterwave, aiming to make digital payments easier and more secure for ride-hailing and food delivery users in Zambia.

What’s changing for Yango Users?

The most immediate shift is at checkout: Yango users in Zambia can now pay using bank cards, processed through Flutterwave’s payment infrastructure.

The companies say the integration is meant to reduce everyday payment friction, especially for customers ordering food or booking rides—and to improve transaction reliability as more users and restaurant partners move away from cash.

Why the companies are doing this

Yango positions the partnership as part of a broader effort to make its services more convenient and accessible while supporting the country’s growing shift toward digital commerce.

Kabanda Chewe, Yango Zambia Country Head, said the company is focused on making service delivery “more convenient, secure, and accessible” for customers and restaurant partners, adding that the Flutterwave integration strengthens Yango’s digital payment capabilities and supports “Zambia’s transition toward a more digitally enabled economy.”

From Flutterwave’s side, the partnership is framed as a continuation of its push for everyday payment use-cases across African markets. Iyembi Nkanza, Country Head at Flutterwave, described the collaboration as part of Flutterwave’s commitment to making payments “seamless and accessible across Africa,” saying the integration is intended to empower Zambians with secure and convenient options that remove friction from routine transactions.

What it could mean for restaurants and delivery partners

For restaurants and delivery partners operating on Yango’s platform, the companies highlight three expected outcomes:

  • More dependable payment processing through Flutterwave’s systems
  • Improved transaction security for card payments
  • A setup that can scale as more customers and partners adopt cashless options

What’s next

Beyond payments, Yango says it plans to keep expanding its footprint in Zambia through technology-led services, partner enablement, and collaborations that support local businesses. The company also signals more alliances and service upgrades ahead, aimed at improving customer experience while contributing to the growth of Zambia’s digital commerce ecosystem.
