Financial risk management startup Pillar, founded by CEO Harsha Ramesh and CTO Chinmay Deshpande, has raised $20 million in a seed funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz, marking one of the larger early-stage deals in enterprise fintech this year.

The round drew participation from Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, along with Crucible Capital and Gallery Ventures, bringing together a mix of institutional investors and experienced operators backing the company’s entry into financial infrastructure.
The size of the round stands out in a segment where seed funding is typically far smaller. It signals strong investor conviction in the opportunity around financial risk management, an area gaining urgency as companies navigate volatile markets, multiple currencies and tightening regulatory environments.
Pillar is focused on helping businesses manage financial risk, a function that has traditionally relied on a patchwork of spreadsheets, legacy systems and complex enterprise tools. As companies expand globally, the need to track treasury operations, hedge exposures and stay compliant has grown significantly, pushing finance teams to look for more integrated solutions.
Investor interest in this space has remained steady even as broader fintech funding cycles have fluctuated. Enterprise-focused platforms tied to core financial operations, such as risk, compliance and treasury, continue to attract capital because they address essential business needs rather than discretionary use cases.
Andreessen Horowitz’s involvement aligns with its broader strategy of backing foundational software companies that sit at the core of business infrastructure. The participation of Dara Khosrowshahi adds further weight, given his experience overseeing financial operations at scale across global markets.
The competitive landscape includes established players offering complex, high-cost systems, alongside newer startups building more flexible, API-driven tools for mid-market companies. Pillar enters this space with significant early backing, positioning itself to build out its product and expand its presence among growing businesses.
With $20 million in fresh capital, the company is expected to focus on product development and early customer adoption as it establishes itself in a category that is becoming increasingly critical for modern enterprises.
