Blinkit, the quick commerce arm of Zomato, has launched a groundbreaking feature allowing users to delete their order history directly from their accounts. Announced by Blinkit co-founder and CEO Albinder Dhindsa on LinkedIn, this user-centric feature has already garnered significant traction. Since its rollout last week, over 1,04,924 orders have been deleted, marking a new era of privacy and convenience for Blinkit users.
Albinder Dhindsa’s announcement of the feature emphasised its popularity. “New year, new order history,” Dhindsa quipped, highlighting the swift adoption of the feature. This addition reflects Blinkit’s commitment to addressing user demands and enhancing the app’s usability.
The launch follows a series of strategic developments at Blinkit. Recently, the platform bolstered its leadership team with the appointment of Vipin Kapooria, a former Flipkart and OYO executive, as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Under his leadership, Blinkit has unveiled a range of innovative services this year.
Blinkit’s diverse new features include:
- Bistro App Launch: A dedicated app for quick food delivery
- Large Order Fleets: Piloting solutions for handling bulk orders.
- Blinkit Seller Hub: Enabling sellers to list and manage products on the platform
- Return Options: Introducing return policies for clothing and footwear categories
- Quick Photo Delivery: Rapid delivery of passport-sized photos
On the same day the order deletion feature was unveiled, Blinkit expanded its operations to Jammu. This aligns with Zomato’s strategy to penetrate Tier-II cities and extend its quick commerce services to untapped markets. The move underscores Zomato’s mission to make quick commerce accessible to a wider audience.
The quick commerce segment thrives in India, with Blinkit leading the charge. In the second quarter (Q2) of FY25, Blinkit recorded a revenue of INR 1,156 crore, a substantial increase from INR 505 crore in the same period last year. The company also significantly reduced its adjusted EBITDA loss to INR 8 crore, compared to INR 125 crore in Q2 FY24.
Blinkit’s latest initiatives highlight its dynamic growth and commitment to user satisfaction, including the order history deletion feature and its expansion into new markets. Backed by Zomato’s vision and leadership, Blinkit continues to set benchmarks in the quick commerce sector.
