Bengaluru-based Exponent Energy is redefining the electric vehicle landscape with its groundbreaking 15-minute rapid-charging technology that powers EV batteries from 0 to 100%.
This startup has already made it to the headlines for successfully deploying a 1MW rapid charging infrastructure for electric buses in India. It is now preparing to unveil the world’s first 1.5MW ultra-fast EV charging system later this year.
Chargers, Batteries And Everything in Between
Launched in 2020, the company aims to revolutionize EVs and redefine industry benchmarks. With brilliant minds working together, co-founders Arun Vinayak and Sanjay Balyal (Ex-Ather Executives) have taken Exponent Energy to new heights by building an all-in-one EV charging system.
Exponent’s 15-minute charging solution—powered by its e^pack, e^pump, and e^plug setup—offers a 3,000-cycle lifespan without custom cells. In Bengaluru, stations are already seeing up to 41 daily charges and 33% lower energy costs, thanks to smart grid balancing.
Their Battery Management System BMS 2.0 combines real-time cell tracking, thermal forecasting, and intelligent load handling—cutting lithium plating by 87% and delivering 10x the accuracy of standard systems for high-speed EV charging.
Exponent’s battery pack is small but mighty—30% more compact, safer, and made with off-the-shelf LFP cells. No custom chemistry needed, and it’s covered for 3,000 charge cycles—three times what most offer.
Scaling with Strategic Capital Support
The company recently secured $44.6 million in its Series A & B funding rounds. Here is the list of investors:
- Lightspeed
- Eight Roads Ventures
- YourNest VC
- 3one4 Capital
- AdvantEdge VC
The company is aiming to deploy 1,000 charging stations and enabling 25,000 EVs by 2025.
A Scalable Blueprint for EV Growth
While focusing on commercial vehicles, low-end infrastructure, and standard cell chemistries, Exponent Energy has created a scalable and cost-effective blueprint for EV growth, which is expanding its boundaries to global economies. Its technology offers a powerful combination of speed, safety, and sustainability, setting a new standard for the EV ecosystem.
The company’s CEO Arun Vinayak says: “Our stack proves emerging markets can lead in EV tech—we’re doing 10× more with standard cells while cutting ownership costs by 30%.”
As India accelerates toward its clean mobility ambitions, startups like Exponent Energy are showing that game-changing innovation isn’t exclusive to Silicon Valley—it’s thriving in Bengaluru as well.
