New Delhi: Palki Sharma Upadhyay is preparing for a new phase in her journalism career with the launch of India Global Review, a digital-first newsroom being built in India with a global outlook.
The development became public after Sharma announced on LinkedIn that the platform has started hiring. Her post said the team is looking for “passionate storytellers” and invited journalists and content creators to join the new venture. The hiring graphic listed roles including multimedia producers, writers and video editors.
India Global Review describes itself as a new-age media company that wants to build a credible, digital-first platform bringing “India’s view to global conversations” with “a new lens and a new perspective.” Its stated values include integrity, independence, authenticity and fairness.
The move comes after Sharma’s exit from Network18, where she served as Managing Editor for more than three years. During that period, she hosted Vantage, a global affairs show on Firstpost and CNN-News18. Before Network18, she was widely known for anchoring Gravitas on WION. Her career has also included stints with ITV Network, Doordarshan News and Hindustan Times.
What makes India Global Review worth watching is not just Sharma’s return with a new platform, but the timing. Indian digital newsrooms are increasingly competing for audiences beyond domestic politics and breaking news. Global affairs, explainers, video-first formats and sharp editorial personalities have become central to how younger viewers consume news online.
For Sharma, who has built her public identity around foreign policy and international news analysis, the platform appears to be a natural extension of her previous work. But unlike her earlier roles inside established media networks, India Global Review could give her more editorial room to shape the product, the tone and the audience from the ground up.
The full scale of the venture, its launch date and content slate are yet to be formally detailed. For now, the hiring push signals that the newsroom is moving from announcement to execution.
