A file claiming to be a playable leaked build of Grand Theft Auto VI is circulating on torrent sites, but analysis of the download indicates that it is not a genuine game build. Instead, the 113GB file appears to be a malware-laced fake designed to exploit the huge interest surrounding recent GTA 6 leaks.

The discovery comes as alleged gameplay footage and map images from the unreleased game continue to spread online. With fans eager to see more of Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated title, the fake download is using the ongoing leak frenzy as a lure.

Huge File, Tiny Malicious Payload

The suspicious download is reportedly packaged as a 113GB ISO file and presented as a leaked GTA 6 build. However, technical analysis shared online indicates that almost all of the file consists of meaningless padding data rather than genuine game content.

Reports from people who examined the file say the actual malicious component is only around 50KB in size. The rest of the enormous file is largely filled with zeroes, creating the appearance of a legitimate large-scale game installation.

The unusual structure is one of the clearest indications that the download is not a genuine playable build. Analysis also found that the file contains malicious commands intended to weaken Windows security protections. These include commands that add the system drive to Windows Defender’s exclusion list and attempts to terminate running security software.

That makes the file particularly dangerous for anyone who attempts to install or execute it.

Real GTA 6 Leaks Are Fueling the Scam

The fake build has appeared during a genuine wave of GTA 6 leaks. A leaker operating under the name Cyberleek has recently shared gameplay footage and images that have attracted widespread attention online. Reports indicate that the material surfaced shortly before Rockstar’s planned extended look at GTA 6 on August 27.

The timing gives the fake download a greater chance of appearing convincing to fans who are already searching for leaked material. However, the existence of recent leaked footage does not mean that a legitimate, publicly playable GTA 6 build has been released.

Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive, has also taken legal steps to identify those responsible for the recent leaks. The company filed DMCA subpoena requests in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York targeting Microsoft and Discord. The requests seek information that could help identify people connected to the Cyberleek accounts and the distribution of leaked material.

Downloading the File Can Put Data at Risk

The biggest concern is not whether the alleged build actually works. It is what the malicious software could do after being executed on a computer.

Malware of this type can potentially compromise sensitive information or weaken a system’s security protections, leaving the device more exposed to additional malicious activity. Because the circulating file has already been identified as a fake containing malicious code, users should not attempt to install or run it.

The recent discovery also highlights the risks created when highly anticipated games become the subject of online leaks. Fake downloads can appear quickly and may be deliberately designed to look like authentic game files.

Treat Any GTA 6 Leak Download With Caution

There is currently no legitimate public GTA 6 playable build available for fans to download. The circulating 113GB file should therefore not be treated as an early version of the game.

Anyone who has downloaded the file should avoid opening or executing it. If it has already been run, a full security scan should be performed immediately, and users should take appropriate steps to secure potentially exposed accounts and data.

For fans waiting for GTA 6, the safest option remains official releases and announcements rather than unofficial downloads claiming to provide early access.
