Toyota has offered a first look at the facelifted Glanza, previewing a revised front design alongside a set of expected mechanical and feature upgrades. The upcoming update is set to bring changes to the premium hatchback, including a new three-cylinder petrol engine and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

The teaser reveals styling revisions around the front grille, bumper and fog lamp housings. Toyota has also moved the badge to the bonnet, giving the hatchback a slightly different appearance while retaining its existing headlamp design.

The facelift is expected to build on the Glanza’s familiar underpinnings while introducing features aimed at buyers looking for more technology and convenience in a compact car.

Toyota Glanza Facelift Gets a Revised Front Design

The updated Glanza features a redesigned grille with chrome accents, a revised bumper and refreshed fog lamp housings. Although the headlamps appear unchanged, the adjustments give the front fascia a distinct look.

The badge placement has also changed, with the Toyota emblem positioned on the bonnet. These revisions help differentiate the Glanza from its Maruti Suzuki Baleno counterpart, with which it shares its basic platform and mechanical foundations.

Rather than introducing an entirely new exterior, Toyota appears to have focused on selective styling changes. The approach retains the hatchback’s familiar proportions while giving the facelift a refreshed identity.

New 1.2-Litre Three-Cylinder Petrol Engine Expected

One of the major expected changes concerns the engine. The facelifted Glanza is tipped to replace its existing K12N 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with a Z12E 1.2-litre three-cylinder unit.

The new engine is expected to produce around 81-83 bhp and 112 Nm of torque. The change could also bring improvements to low-speed response, although the final performance figures and specifications will need confirmation.

Transmission choices are expected to include a five-speed manual and an automated manual transmission (AMT). A factory-fitted compressed natural gas (CNG) option is also expected to remain part of the lineup, with an AMT-equipped CNG version reportedly in consideration.

The revised powertrain would mark a significant mechanical change for the Glanza, even as its exterior updates remain relatively subtle.

Level 2 ADAS and Ventilated Seats Among Expected Features

The facelift is also expected to receive a more extensive equipment package. The headline addition is Level 2 ADAS, which could bring driver-assistance functions such as lane-keep assist and automatic emergency braking.

These systems are designed to help drivers in specific situations, although their availability and operation depend on the final equipment package.

Other expected cabin upgrades include ventilated front seats, a wireless charger and a nine-inch infotainment system. Together, these additions would expand the Glanza’s convenience and technology offering.

However, the final feature list, including the availability of individual ADAS functions across different variants, remains to be confirmed.

How the Glanza Differs From the Maruti Suzuki Baleno

The Toyota Glanza is closely related to the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, sharing its underlying engineering and several key components. Toyota distinguishes the hatchback through its own branding, styling details and positioning.

The facelift continues that approach. While the two models are expected to share several mechanical and interior elements, the Glanza’s revised grille, chrome detailing, fog lamp housings and bonnet-mounted badge give it a separate visual identity.

This strategy allows Toyota to update the model without making extensive changes to its established foundations. The expected addition of driver-assistance technology and cabin features could also help broaden its appeal among buyers considering premium hatchbacks.

Toyota Glanza Facelift Enters a Competitive Hatchback Market

The Glanza competes in a segment that includes the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Tata Altroz and Hyundai i20. Buyers in this category often compare styling, running costs, equipment and everyday usability when choosing a car.

The proposed combination of a three-cylinder petrol engine, multiple transmission options and Level 2 ADAS could give the facelift a broader feature offering. At the same time, the extent of the changes will depend on the final specifications and variant-wise equipment.

Toyota has teased the updated Glanza, but details such as its launch date, prices and complete variant lineup have not been established in the information currently available.

The next update from Toyota should clarify how the facelifted hatchback’s new powertrain and expected technology features translate into its final package for Indian buyers.
