Mumbai, March 3, 2026: Jio Platforms Limited (JPL) on Tuesday announced the appointment of Dan Bailey as President, Jio Platforms, tasking him with leading the company’s international business initiatives as it prepares for what it calls Jio’s “next chapter” beyond India.
Bailey will be based in London and will report to Akash Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, the company said in a media release. He will also join the Executive Committee of Jio Platforms Limited and contribute more broadly across the business.
What Jio says Dan Bailey will do?
JPL said Bailey’s mandate is to drive the company’s international agenda as Jio looks to take its digital platforms and technology capabilities into global markets. The company described this as part of a defined strategy and roadmap discussed at its most recent AGM.
Bailey’s background, as outlined by the company
According to the announcement, Bailey brings 35+ years of experience across consulting and investment banking. JPL said he has held senior leadership roles at Schroders/Citi, Morgan Stanley, and HSBC, and most recently served as Chairman of Deutsche Bank’s TMT (telecom, media, technology) practice.
The company added that over his career, Bailey has advised major corporates and financial sponsors on transformative transactions, including “some of the most consequential telecom deals in history.”
What Akash Ambani said?
Announcing the appointment, Akash Ambani said Bailey has advised the group for years and is expected to add strategic depth as Jio expands its ambitions internationally.
“We are delighted to welcome Dan to Jio… He has spent his career at the centre of the global telecom and technology ecosystem and brings deep relationships, strategic insights, and a strong understanding of the industry’s complexity… I look forward to working closely with him,” Ambani said.
What Dan Bailey said?
Bailey said the opportunity to help take Jio’s India story global was a compelling next step.
“I have long admired what Jio has built in India. the scale, the speed, and the genuine impact on people’s lives. The chance to help take that story global is the kind of opportunity you don’t think twice about,” he said, adding that he was looking forward to joining Ambani and the team.
Jio’s stated rationale: taking its platforms global
In the release, JPL positioned the appointment as aligned with Jio’s plan to expand beyond its India footprint. Over the past decade, Jio said it has built digital platforms and technologies that have transformed connectivity and access at scale in India, and it now intends to take those capabilities into international markets to create long-term value for customers, partners, and shareholders.
