India has secured more than $250 billion in artificial intelligence infrastructure commitments at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, marking one of the largest coordinated investment drives in the country’s digital history. The pledges, announced during the high-level gathering in New Delhi, span data centres, semiconductor capacity, compute infrastructure, and advanced AI research.

The scale of participation and financial backing signals a decisive shift in India’s position within the global AI ecosystem. The investments are expected to strengthen the country’s digital backbone and accelerate the integration of artificial intelligence across sectors of the economy.

Record Investment Announced at Flagship Event

Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed that commitments exceeding $250 billion were secured during the summit. Among the largest domestic pledges, Reliance Industries and Jio Platforms committed $110 billion over a seven year period to expand AI-related infrastructure and services.

The Adani Group announced plans to invest $100 billion in AI data centre infrastructure by 2035. In addition, around $20 billion has been earmarked for venture capital and deep technology investments, creating a significant pipeline for startups and research-driven enterprises.

Together, these commitments are designed to build a robust AI infrastructure ecosystem over the next decade, covering computing power, advanced storage systems, semiconductor fabrication, and high performance data processing facilities.

Delhi Declaration Signals Global Alignment

The summit also produced a major diplomatic outcome. More than 70 countries signed the Delhi Declaration, reflecting broad international consensus on the responsible development and deployment of artificial intelligence. The United States and the United Kingdom were among the signatories.

The declaration emphasises ethical standards, secure AI systems, and inclusive access to technological benefits. Officials indicated that the number of signatories is expected to cross 80 by the conclusion of the summit.

The scale of participation marks a significant expansion in global alignment compared with earlier AI gatherings held in Paris and Seoul. The Delhi Declaration underscores a shared commitment to ensuring that AI development remains transparent, accountable, and beneficial across borders.

Global Technology Leaders Expand India Footprint

Alongside domestic conglomerates, leading global technology companies announced major investment plans in India’s AI ecosystem.

Microsoft committed $17.5 billion towards cloud and AI infrastructure expansion. Amazon Web Services pledged more than $35 billion in investments by 2030 to strengthen data centre capacity and cloud capabilities. Google announced $15 billion in investments, including infrastructure projects such as subsea cables to enhance connectivity.

These long term commitments position India as a central destination for AI infrastructure development, particularly within the Global South. The investments are expected to improve compute availability, expand data processing capabilities, and support the deployment of advanced AI tools across industries.

Building a Sovereign AI Framework

A central theme of the summit was India’s push toward a sovereign AI ecosystem. The government outlined its strategy under the MANAV doctrine and the New Delhi Consensus, frameworks that aim to balance innovation with responsibility and inclusivity.

As part of this effort, the government is procuring tens of thousands of graphics processing units to provide subsidised compute access to researchers, startups, and academic institutions. Plans are also underway to develop indigenous AI models tailored to local languages and use cases.

In addition, India is building a national compute grid powered by 10,000 GPUs. This infrastructure is designed to support large scale AI training and deployment while reducing dependence on foreign technology platforms.

Strengthening India’s Digital Future

The combined commitments announced at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 represent a transformative step in India’s digital journey. By aligning government policy, domestic industrial investment, and global technology partnerships, the country is laying the groundwork for a comprehensive AI infrastructure network.

With financial backing exceeding $250 billion and broad international cooperation under the Delhi Declaration, India is positioning itself as a major force in shaping the future of artificial intelligence.
