Climate technology startup RenewCred has raised Rs 4.25 crore in a seed funding round comprising a mix of equity and grants. The round was led by Campus Angels Network and saw participation from Kairos Early Opportunity Fund, build3 Startup Studio, VentureStudio Ahmedabad University, Ideashacks Investor Network, ACT Capital Foundation, Social Innovation Lab by Citi BankāIIT Kanpur, along with a group of angel investors.
The funding marks an important milestone for the Bengaluru-based company as it looks to expand its technology-led approach to building high-integrity carbon credit infrastructure. According to the company, the capital will be used to strengthen its methodologies, scale its Net Zero digital platform, and enable the issuance of carbon credits that can be trusted by both buyers and regulators.

Building Credibility in a Complex Carbon Ecosystem
Founded in 2024 by Abhimanyu Rathi, RenewCred is focused on developing robust, technology-driven systems for carbon markets. The startup is working to address long-standing challenges around transparency, verification, and credibility that have limited trust in carbon credits globally.
At the core of RenewCredās offering is an advanced Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification framework supported by Internet of Things devices, machine learning models, and blockchain-based systems. This integrated approach is designed to ensure that every carbon credit issued is backed by reliable data and transparent verification processes.
The companyās mission is to make carbon markets more efficient and accessible, especially for technology-led climate projects and smaller developers across the Global South. By lowering entry barriers and improving trust, RenewCred aims to broaden participation in carbon markets while maintaining high integrity standards.
A Digital Platform Designed for Continuous Verification
RenewCredās proprietary Net Zero platform enables continuous monitoring, reporting, and verification at the level of each individual carbon credit. This approach moves away from traditional, document-heavy systems that often rely on periodic audits and manual reviews.
Instead, the platform integrates live data streams with scientific models and automated checks. This allows for real-time visibility into project performance and credit issuance, improving auditability and reducing delays in verification. The company believes this shift is critical to building confidence among buyers, regulators, and other stakeholders in the carbon value chain.
Supporting the platform is a growing network of domain experts who work with RenewCred to co-develop sector-specific methodologies. These experts help ensure that issued credits are conservative, measurable, and defensible under global scrutiny, particularly as standards around carbon accounting continue to evolve.
Expanding Methodologies Beyond Nature-Based Credits
Looking ahead, RenewCred plans to expand its portfolio of non-nature-based carbon credit methodologies. The startup is focusing on areas where technology and data can play a decisive role in accurate measurement and verification.
Its current areas of focus include biochar, electric vehicle fleets, renewable energy, methane reduction, clean fuels, and industrial decarbonisation. By concentrating on these segments, RenewCred aims to support projects that deliver measurable emissions reductions while benefiting from continuous digital verification.
The company is also working to scale its digital MRV and registry platform, grow its scientific and technical network, and onboard more project developers and buyers who are seeking continuously verified carbon credits.
Positioning India in Global Carbon Markets
RenewCred has stated its ambition to help position India as a credible source of high-integrity, technology-verified carbon credits for global markets. As demand grows for transparent and reliable climate solutions, the startup sees an opportunity for Indian projects to play a larger role internationally, supported by strong verification infrastructure.
The company is scheduled to issue its first set of carbon credits this quarter, marking a key operational milestone. Over the next 14 years, RenewCred is targeting the removal of 2 gigatons of greenhouse gas emissions through projects supported on its platform.
By integrating live data, scientific modeling, and automated verification, RenewCred aims to reduce verification timelines by 75 percent and cut transaction costs by more than 50 percent. These efficiency gains, combined with improved transparency, are central to the companyās effort to strengthen trust and accountability in carbon markets.
