Architect Labs, a startup focused on applying artificial intelligence to semiconductor development, has raised $24 million in seed funding as it seeks to transform how custom chips are designed. The funding round was led by Kindred Ventures and attracted participation from TQ Ventures, Race Capital, Together Fund, and several prominent technology leaders from the AI and semiconductor industries.

The company is positioning itself to compete in the growing market for custom silicon solutions, an area currently dominated by established players such as Broadcom and Marvell. By leveraging AI to automate major parts of the chip design process, Architect Labs aims to reduce development timelines, lower costs, and make custom hardware more accessible to organizations building advanced computing systems.

Reimagining the Chip Design Process

Designing modern semiconductors is one of the most complex and expensive engineering challenges in the technology industry. Developing a new chip often requires years of work, large engineering teams, and extensive verification before production can begin.

Architect Labs is working to streamline this process through an AI-powered platform that automates chip design and verification tasks. The company’s approach begins with understanding a specific workload and then generating silicon designs optimized for that purpose. The goal is to help organizations obtain custom chips without having to build large in-house semiconductor design teams.

The startup describes its approach as a “designless” model, drawing parallels to the shift that occurred in semiconductor manufacturing when fabless companies emerged and relied on specialized foundries for production. Architect Labs aims to bring a similar transformation to the design stage by reducing the complexity traditionally associated with custom chip development.

Taking Aim at a Growing Market

Demand for workload-specific chips has increased significantly as artificial intelligence applications become more widespread. Cloud computing providers, AI developers, and robotics companies are increasingly looking for hardware optimized for their particular needs rather than relying solely on general-purpose processors.

This trend has created a lucrative market for custom silicon. Companies such as Broadcom and Marvell have built substantial businesses by designing specialized AI accelerators and other custom chips for major technology firms, including large cloud providers.

Architect Labs believes that AI-assisted design can offer a faster and more efficient path to creating custom hardware. By shortening development cycles and reducing engineering complexity, the company hopes to provide organizations with tailored chip solutions that can be developed more quickly than traditional methods allow.

Strong Investor and Industry Support

The startup’s seed round attracted backing from a group of investors and industry leaders with deep experience in artificial intelligence and semiconductor technology.

In addition to Kindred Ventures, the funding round included participation from TQ Ventures, Race Capital, and Together Fund. Several well-known angel investors also joined the round, including Google DeepMind Chief Scientist Jeff Dean, along with executives from OpenAI and Nvidia.

The company’s leadership team brings experience from some of the technology sector’s most influential organizations. Co-founders Ebrahim Hussain and Aaditya Subedi have worked across companies and research institutions including Apple, Tesla, Harvard, and Stanford.

Architect Labs also highlights the technical depth of its engineering team, noting that its members have collectively contributed to the tape-out of more than 80 production chips. This experience is expected to play a key role as the company develops and deploys its AI-powered design platform.

Building Toward Next-Generation Silicon

With the new funding in place, Architect Labs plans to expand its computing infrastructure, advance research efforts, and continue developing its AI-based chip design technology.

The company is also working toward delivering AI-generated chip designs on leading-edge semiconductor process nodes later this year. Achieving that milestone would represent an important step in demonstrating the practicality of using AI to automate complex semiconductor development workflows.

As demand for specialized computing hardware continues to grow across artificial intelligence, cloud infrastructure, and robotics, Architect Labs is betting that automation can reshape one of the industry’s most challenging processes. By combining semiconductor expertise with advanced AI systems, the startup aims to make custom silicon development faster, more efficient, and more accessible to a broader range of organizations.
