Water infrastructure startup Neuromod Aqua has raised pre-seed funding from Porush Jain, founder of Sportskeeda, as it works to build a factory-manufactured platform for sewage and effluent treatment. The company has not disclosed the size of the investment.
The fresh capital is expected to support Neuromod Aqua’s move from product development towards manufacturing and early commercial deployment. The startup plans to establish a manufacturing facility, develop and validate its productised sewage treatment offering and begin its initial commercial deployments.
Founded in 2026 by Anuj Arora and Anand Dad, Neuromod Aqua is developing modular wastewater treatment plants using technologies including MBBR, MBR and SBR. Instead of limiting itself to one part of the treatment process, the company is focusing on the design, manufacturing, installation and servicing of its treatment plants.
That factory-led approach is a notable part of Neuromod Aqua’s strategy. The startup is looking to build a productised sewage treatment system rather than treat every installation purely as a bespoke infrastructure project. Its immediate plans include getting manufacturing in place and taking the technology through its first commercial deployments.
Delhi NCR is set to be an early focus. Neuromod Aqua plans to complete its manufacturing facility and initial deployments across the region while also developing a service and spare-parts network. The company is additionally looking beyond sewage treatment into areas such as effluent treatment, zero liquid discharge, water reuse and reverse osmosis.
The opportunity Neuromod Aqua is pursuing sits against a sizeable wastewater treatment gap in India. The country generates around 72,368 million litres of sewage every day, while actual treatment stands at roughly 20,235 MLD, according to Central Pollution Control Board figures cited in the report.
The longer-term requirement could be considerably larger. A 2025 analysis by the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) estimates that India may require an additional 70,000 MLD of treatment capacity by 2047.
For Neuromod Aqua, the pre-seed round therefore comes at an early but important stage. The company now has to translate its modular treatment concept into a manufacturing operation, validate its productised system and establish its first commercial footprint. Its planned service and spare-parts network in Delhi NCR also points to an emphasis on what happens after installation, an operational element that will sit alongside the company’s manufacturing push.
The undisclosed investment from Jain will fund that initial build-out as Neuromod Aqua develops the infrastructure needed to manufacture, deploy and service its wastewater treatment systems.
