A wealthtech firm based in the city of Chennai, AssetPlus, has received ₹175 crores in a growth round of funding from Nexus Venture Partners, with the involvement of existing investorsEight Roads Ventures and Rainmatter Fund, as well as Bhupinder Singh from InCred Group.
The capital infusion not only marks an important milestone in the company’s history, but it also helps AssetPlus accelerate its investment in technology, expand its offerings, and scale its distributor-led Assisted Wealth Management Model, whose relevance continues to grow in the evolving Indian retail investment landscape.
Strategic focus: technology, products, and scale
AssetPlus said the fresh funds will be used to strengthen its core technology infrastructure, expand its range of investment products, and scale operations across its nationwide distributor network.
A key focus area will be the deployment of AI-led capabilities within advisor workflows, aimed at improving efficiency, compliance, and client engagement without replacing the human advisor. The company is also preparing to launch Portfolio Management Services (PMS) and enable global investment access through GIFT City over the next six months, moving into higher-value and cross-border offerings within a regulated framework.
Asset Plus: Building infrastructure for India’s advisor economy
Founded in 2016, AssetPlus operates as a B2B2C wealth infrastructure platform for mutual fund distributors (MFDs), offering end-to-end support across onboarding, transactions, compliance, reporting, and portfolio servicing.
The platform currently supports:
- 18,000+ mutual fund distributors
- Assets exceeding ₹7,250 crore
- Monthly SIP flows of over ₹100 crore
- More than 1.5 lakh retail investors across India
By positioning distributors as the primary interface for investors, AssetPlus has focused on enabling advice-led investing at scale rather than competing directly with do-it-yourself investment apps.
Retail investors still want advice
Chief Executive Officer and co-founder Vishranth Suresh said the company is seeing strong demand for assisted wealth management as retail investors navigate volatile markets and increasingly complex financial products.
The typical retail client of the company holds an investment portfolio worth ₹5 lakh to ₹2 crore, along with average monthly SIP investments of ₹10,000 to ₹12,000, the company has claimed, emphasizing the mass affluent and emerging affluent households served by the online platform.
Investor confidence in long-term wealth infrastructure
Nexus Venture Partners’ Anand Datta stated that AssetPlus establishes a long-term infrastructural foundation for ‘assisted’ wealth management. He emphasized the integrated nature of the technology approach and advisory enablement of the product offerings.
Rainmatter Fund co-founder Nithin Kamath said AssetPlus has remained focused on empowering distributors and improving outcomes for first-time and long-term investors, noting the importance of guidance-led investing in India’s financial ecosystem.
AI as an advisor’s copilot
Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Awanish Raj said AssetPlus is embedding AI across workflows to support distributors in portfolio analysis, risk evaluation, and client servicing, positioning technology as a “copilot” that enhances decision-making rather than replacing human judgment.
Financial performance and profitability roadmap
As per Tracxn, AssetPlus has reported revenue of ₹33.9 crore and net loss of ₹21 crore during the financial year ending March 2025. The company has also announced its plan to turn the company profitable in the next two years.
Going forward, the future vision of AssetPlus aims to reach 100 million households in India by 2047, thus aligning its own growth strategies with overall financial inclusion plans of India.
Why this funding round matters
As the investor base in India expands, the AssetPlus business model seems to be a part of a new paradigm of wealth management, whereby humans and technology are brought together in a hybrid solution. While it has strategies in PMS, overseas investing through GIFT city, and AI-powered advisor solutions, the company is clearly an infrastructure play in India’s new wealth creation journey.
In a market where the trend tends to lean heavily towards the direct-to-consumer play, the growth round in the case of AssetPlus is a clear assurance of continued investor support for platforms that support rather than displace the advisor.
