Netflix New Releases: Netflix is keeping its release calendar relatively tight this week, with 15 movies, series, specials and live-event additions scheduled between September 14 and September 20, 2026. The busiest day comes on September 17, when five separate titles hit the service, including two of the week’s most recognisable releases, Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story and Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 Season 2.

Rather than relying on one major premiere, Netflix’s latest slate stretches across true crime, animation, stand-up comedy, international drama, dance comedy and family programming. There is also a clear midweek concentration, with September 17 alone accounting for one-third of the week’s 15 additions.

Monster turns its attention to Lizzie Borden

One of the headline arrivals is Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story, which begins streaming September 17.

The new instalment is the fourth season of the Monster anthology and centres on Lizzie Borden, played by Ella Beatty. Borden was tried and acquitted over the 1892 axe murders of her father and stepmother in Fall River, Massachusetts. The series revisits the case and the questions that continued to surround it after her acquittal. Charlie Hunnam appears as Lizzie’s father, Andrew Borden.

Netflix’s own listing for the week frames the story around the central mystery that has followed the case for more than a century: Borden was acquitted, but suspicion around what happened did not disappear.

Stranger Things returns to Hawkins in animated form

September 17 also brings Season 2 of Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, Netflix’s animated spin-off set in Hawkins.

The second season follows the same younger versions of familiar Stranger Things characters, including Eleven, Mike, Will, Lucas and Max. This time, the story involves ghostly apparitions and strange creatures disrupting the town as Valentine’s Day approaches.

The animated series continues to use the characters and setting of the original show, but with a different cast providing the performances.

Jo Koy leads the September 15 releases

Comedy gets an early-week slot with Jo Koy: Blue in the Face, which arrives September 15.

The special is Koy’s sixth hour-long Netflix stand-up release. It was filmed in front of a sold-out audience in Stockton, California, and includes material about a dental mishap, being fired from McDonald’s and his veteran stepfather.

September 15 also adds The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist and Season 1 of I Survived a Serial Killer.

Best of the Best brings competitive dance to September 18

On September 18, Netflix adds Best of the Best, a dance comedy centred on childhood friends Maya and Anjali.

Played by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and Priyanka Kedia, the pair join UCLA’s competitive Bollywood-fusion dance team and discover that the fight for a U.S. championship is far more intense than expected.

The same day also brings Pokémon Horizons: Rising Hope Season 3, Part 4. The story follows the Rising Volt Tacklers as they try to stop a new plan by the Explorers that could affect the future of Pokémon and Trainer bonds.

Stop! That! Train! closes the week

Netflix rounds out the week’s additions on September 20 with Stop! That! Train!, an action-comedy disaster film.

The movie follows Tess, played by Ginger Minj, and DeeDee, played by Jujubee, two stewardesses who sneak aboard the Glamazonian Express while looking for work. Their journey quickly goes wrong when the train heads towards a massive storm known as “Stormganza.”

September 17 is Netflix’s busiest release day this week

The full September 17 lineup goes well beyond the two biggest English-language titles.

The Fixers, a Taiwanese series, follows a former gangster who teams up with a politician’s son to handle sensitive secrets for powerful clients. Turkish series Not a Stranger centres on a mother balancing parenthood and an art career whose new nanny may be hiding something. Japanese series Plastic Beauty follows an emergency-room surgeon who moves into cosmetic medicine and clashes with a celebrity doctor.

Together with Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story and Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 Season 2, that makes five Netflix additions on September 17 alone.

Everything new on Netflix from September 14 to September 20

September 14: Gabby’s Dollhouse Season 14, Hot Ones: Extra Heat Episode 2, and Seasons 1-2 of When Hope Calls. The Hot Ones special is scheduled for 7 p.m. PT and 10 p.m. ET.

September 15: Jo Koy: Blue in the Face, The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist, and I Survived a Serial Killer Season 1.

September 16: Polish series The Doll, a modern retelling of the classic novel by Bolesław Prus.

September 17: The Fixers, Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story, Not a Stranger, Plastic Beauty, and Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 Season 2.

September 18: Best of the Best and Pokémon Horizons: Rising Hope Season 3, Part 4.

Netflix’s recent Top 10 shows offer a snapshot of viewer interest

The latest Global Top 10 data included with the material covers the week of August 31 through September 6.

Death of the Pastor’s Wife Season 1 held the No. 1 position with 13.9 million views. Beauty in Black Season 3 followed with 8 million, while the newly released second season of The Gentlemen ranked third with 6.7 million views. Outer Banks Season 5 was fourth at 3.3 million, narrowly ahead of Season 1 of The Gentlemen, which remained in the ranking with 3.2 million views after 11 weeks.

That ranking predates this week’s September 14-20 releases, so it should be read as a snapshot of Netflix viewing earlier in the month rather than an indication of how the new titles are performing.

Several titles are also leaving Netflix

The weekly turnover is not limited to new arrivals.

Four Weddings and a Funeral, all six seasons of Nashville, and four Spartacus entries are listed to leave Netflix on September 15. Seasons 1 and 2 of Lopez vs. Lopez are scheduled to leave on September 18.

For subscribers deciding what to watch this week, September 17 is the date to watch most closely. It carries the largest single-day batch of releases, led by Netflix’s new Lizzie Borden chapter and the return of its animated Stranger Things spin-off.
