Bengaluru-based proptech startup Flent has raised Rs 21 crore, approximately $2.5 million, in a Pre-Series A funding round, marking a key milestone in its early growth journey. The round includes Rs 17 crore in equity financing and Rs 4 crore in debt. It was led by Incubate Fund Asia, with participation from WEH Ventures, Twin and Bull Family Office, Stride Ventures, 91Ventures, Untitled VC, and several angel investors. Among the angel backers is Rajesh Yabaji, co-founder of logistics startup BlackBuck.

In a notable show of trust from its user community, more than 40 landlords and tenants who actively use the Flent platform also participated in the round, collectively investing Rs 1 crore. This involvement reflects growing confidence in the company’s approach to solving persistent challenges in India’s rental housing market.

Expansion Plans Beyond Bengaluru Take Shape

Flent plans to use the fresh capital to expand its presence beyond Bengaluru, its current core market. Mumbai and Gurugram have been identified as the next cities for launch as the company looks to tap into large, high-demand urban rental markets. These cities are known for significant populations of working professionals and migrants, making them natural extensions for Flent’s managed rental housing model.

Alongside geographic expansion, the startup intends to introduce new offerings that cover a wider range of needs across the rental lifecycle. These include tools for flatmate discovery, vacancy protection products for landlords, and AI-led location and budget discovery features aimed at improving the home search experience for tenants.

Building a Full-Stack Rental Experience

Founded in October 2023 by Mayank Lalwani, Rishabh Agnihotri, and Shail Daswani, Flent positions itself as a full-stack rental platform designed to simplify renting for both tenants and property owners. The company focuses on offering fully furnished, move-in-ready homes with flexible lease terms, catering primarily to urban renters seeking convenience and predictability.

Flent manages the entire rental lifecycle on behalf of landlords. This includes home design and furnishing, tenant onboarding, screening, property maintenance, and rent assurance. By handling these processes end to end, the platform aims to remove common friction points such as brokerage fees and large security deposits, which often deter tenants and complicate leasing decisions.

Consistent Occupancy Reflects Market Demand

At present, Flent manages around 350 rooms across 140 premium homes in Bengaluru. The company reports occupancy levels ranging between 90 and 95 percent, indicating steady demand for its offerings. According to Flent, the average customer stays on the platform for approximately 14 months, suggesting relatively low churn and sustained tenant satisfaction.

These metrics highlight the platform’s focus on longer-term rental relationships rather than short stays, aligning with its emphasis on professionally managed homes and predictable living experiences.

Targeting a Fragmented Supply Market

On the supply side, Flent is focusing on high-value residential properties, particularly those owned by investors and non-resident Indians. In this segment, professional property management services remain fragmented, with many owners relying on informal or inconsistent arrangements to manage their homes.

By offering a structured and managed solution, Flent aims to help property owners maximize occupancy and reduce operational hassles while ensuring consistent quality for tenants. The company’s approach seeks to bridge the gap between premium housing supply and the expectations of modern urban renters.

Positioned for the Next Phase of Growth

With fresh capital, growing participation from its own user base, and clear plans for expansion and product development, Flent is entering its next phase of growth. As rental housing continues to evolve in India’s major cities, the startup is positioning itself as a platform focused on reliability, transparency, and end-to-end execution in an otherwise fragmented market.

The latest funding round reinforces investor confidence in Flent’s model and provides the resources needed to scale its operations while staying focused on improving the rental experience for both tenants and landlords.
