Petcare startup Supertails is in advanced talks to raise between $15 million and $20 million in a new funding round led by Venturi Partners, in a deal that underlines rising investor interest in India’s petcare sector over the past few months.
according to information reviewed by Ascendants. The round is yet to be formally announced and remains under discussion, but if it goes through in the indicated range, it will mark one of the more sizeable cheques raised recently in India’s digital-first petcare space.
Licious alumni building a full-stack petcare platform
Founded in 2021 by former Licious senior executives Varun Sadana, Aman Tekriwal, and Vineet Khanna, Supertails is positioning itself as a one-stop destination for pet parents.
The company runs an online platform that combines products and services under a single brand. On the products side, Supertails sells pet supplies including toys, accessories, and pet food. On the services side, it offers online veterinary consultations, pet training, and pet pharmacy services across India.
By bringing these offerings together, Supertails is trying to tap into a generation of urban and semi-urban pet parents who are increasingly comfortable with digital channels for both commerce and care-related services.
Supertails: Backed by a clutch of consumer-focused investors
Supertails is already backed by a roster of well-known consumer and venture investors. Its current cap table includes RPSG Capital Ventures, Fireside Ventures, Saama Capital, DSG Consumer Partners, and Sauce VC.
The potential entry of Venturi Partners as the lead investor in the new round would add another specialist consumer investor to that line-up. While the finer terms of the deal are still being negotiated, the size of the proposed raise suggests that existing backers see room for the company to scale its current model further.
Funding talks against a busier petcare backdrop
The funding negotiations come at a time when India’s petcare space has “seen a pick-up in activity over the last six to eight months.” This rising activity is visible in areas ranging from online commerce to services such as veterinary consultations, grooming, and training, as companies attempt to organise what has traditionally been a fragmented, largely offline market.
Within this context, a potential $15-20 million round for Supertails signals that investors are willing to back platforms that don’t just sell pet food and accessories, but also integrate medical and behavioural services for pets under one roof.
What the new capital could mean?
While specific utilisation plans for the proposed round were not disclosed in the information available, a raise of this scale typically gives a consumer internet company more room to deepen its product assortment, invest in technology and logistics, and expand the reach of its service-led offerings such as online vet consultations and training.
For Supertails, whose model is built around recurring use cases like food purchases and medical consultations, the outcome of these funding talks could be crucial in shaping how aggressively it can pursue growth over the next phase.
As things stand, Supertails’ ongoing discussions with Venturi Partners for a $15–20 million raise will be closely watched by founders, investors, and larger consumer companies tracking India’s evolving petcare market. The outcome of the round will offer an early signal of how capital allocators are reading the next leg of growth in this category.
