The UFC returns to Philadelphia on Saturday, August 15, with UFC 330 bringing two championship fights to the Xfinity Mobile Arena. The event is headlined by welterweight champion Islam Makhachev defending his title against No. 1 contender Ian Machado Garry. The co-main event will see women’s strawweight champion Mackenzie Dern make her first title defense against Gillian Robertson.

The card marks the UFC’s return to Philadelphia for the first time since 2019 and the first numbered UFC event in the city since UFC 133 in August 2011. That previous numbered event was held at the venue when it was known as the Wells Fargo Center. In 2019, Justin Gaethje stopped Edson Barboza at the same arena in a memorable Fight Night main event.

Philadelphia Gets a Two-Title Fight Night

UFC 330 features a 14-fight lineup spread across the early prelims, prelims and main card. The early prelims are scheduled for 5 p.m. ET, followed by the prelims at 7 p.m. ET and the main card at 9 p.m. ET. The event will stream on Paramount+ in the United States.

Alongside the two championship bouts, the main card includes Charles Johnson vs. Jose Ochoa, Mansur Abdul-Malik vs. Dustin Stoltzfus and Edson Barboza vs. Esteban Ribovics. The preliminary lineup includes Chidi Njokuani vs. Joel Alvarez, Jalin Turner vs. Kaue Fernandes, Donte Johnson vs. Eric McConico and Vicente Luque vs. Tresean Gore. Rafael Tobias vs. Lucas Fernando, Neil Magny vs. Ramiz Brahimaj and Jeremiah Wells vs. Myktybek Orolbai complete the card.

Makhachev Begins His Welterweight Title Reign

The spotlight belongs to Islam Makhachev, who enters his first defense of the UFC welterweight championship. Makhachev captured the 170-pound title at UFC 322 in November 2025 after defeating Jack Della Maddalena over five rounds. The victory extended his UFC winning streak to 16 fights, leaving him level with Anderson Silva for the promotion’s longest winning streak.

Makhachev’s rise to the top of the welterweight division followed a dominant run at lightweight, where his grappling and control helped establish him as one of the UFC’s most successful champions. His move to welterweight added another championship to his résumé and created the opportunity for a new challenge against a much larger opponent.

Machado Garry Brings Size and Distance

Ian Machado Garry earned his title opportunity after building a strong run in the welterweight division. The Irish contender recorded victories over Carlos Prates and former champion Belal Muhammad in 2025, strengthening his position at the top of the rankings.

The physical difference between the two fighters is one of the most intriguing aspects of the matchup. Garry holds a five-inch height advantage and a four-inch reach advantage over Makhachev, giving him considerably more length to work with inside the Octagon.

That size could be particularly important against a champion whose success has been built around controlling opponents with wrestling and grappling. Garry’s ability to maintain distance while dealing with Makhachev’s pressure will be one of the key areas to watch from the opening exchanges.

Dern and Robertson Set for the Co-Main Event

The second championship fight gives the Philadelphia crowd another major matchup. Mackenzie Dern will defend the UFC women’s strawweight title against Gillian Robertson, who enters the bout after a five-fight winning streak.

Dern won the strawweight championship in October 2025 and now faces her first title defense. Robertson brings a strong submission background into the contest, setting up another championship fight where grappling could play a central role.

A Packed Card Returns the UFC to Philly

With two title fights at the top and established names spread throughout the remaining bouts, UFC 330 gives Philadelphia a major night of MMA action. The return also adds another chapter to the UFC’s history in a city known for its passionate sports audience.

At the center of it all is Makhachev’s first defense of the welterweight championship against Machado Garry. The champion is chasing another milestone, while the challenger has the opportunity to become Ireland’s next UFC champion. With the title, rankings and a significant physical contrast all involved, the main event provides a fitting centerpiece for the UFC’s return to Philadelphia.
