Rockstar Games is officially stepping further into the GTA roleplaying scene with the launch of nopixel V, a Rockstar-supported roleplaying server for GTA Online. The new project is being introduced ahead of the much-anticipated arrival of GTA 6 and marks a significant development in Rockstar’s relationship with the roleplaying community.

The company has announced that nopixel V will enter beta testing on September 8, 2026, with access provided through the Rockstar Games Launcher. However, the initial testing phase will not be open to everyone. Rockstar is limiting participation to a selected group of players through an invite-only system.

For regular players hoping to join the beta, there is currently no public application process available.

NoPixel V Beta Begins With Limited Access

The beta is scheduled to start next week, but the majority of GTA fans will initially have to watch rather than play. Rockstar has invited 439 players to participate in the first testing phase.

Players who have not received an invitation will not be able to access the beta during this initial period. Rockstar has not announced a system that would allow ordinary users to apply for an invitation.

The limited launch is expected to attract considerable attention from the GTA roleplaying and livestreaming communities. Invited players and streamers are likely to showcase their experiences as testing gets underway, giving the wider community its first look at the new server.

Rockstar Moves Closer to GTA’s Roleplaying Community

GTA V roleplaying grew rapidly during the late 2010s and early 2020s, with modders creating customized multiplayer experiences using Rockstar’s game as their foundation.

One of the biggest names to emerge from that movement was NoPixel, which built a large and dedicated following and became closely associated with GTA roleplaying.

Rockstar has gradually moved closer to this part of its player base. The company acquired the team behind the FiveM modding platform and has also worked with the NoPixel team as the roleplaying ecosystem around GTA V continued to develop.

The upcoming nopixel V project takes that relationship further, introducing a substantially reworked roleplaying experience.

According to Rockstar, the new version features an updated character customization system designed to give players more options when creating their roleplaying characters. The server also expands the available environment with new locations and changes to existing areas.

Among the additions highlighted by Rockstar are the Pixel Hotel & Casino and a six-block redevelopment of Cypress Flats, providing new locations for players to build stories and roleplaying scenarios.

A Project Nearly Three Years in the Making

nopixel V has also been in development for an extended period. The project’s development team has described the upcoming server as the result of almost three years of work.

The lengthy development period reflects the scale of the overhaul being introduced with nopixel V. Rather than simply offering another roleplaying server, the project is intended to deliver a significantly updated experience for players participating in GTA roleplay.

However, the September 8 beta is only the beginning of the rollout. Rockstar and NoPixel have not confirmed when access could be expanded beyond the initial group of invited testers.

Wider Release Date Remains Unknown

For players who are not among the 439 invited testers, there is currently no confirmed route into the beta. Rockstar has also not announced a date for a public or open beta.

The full release date for nopixel V remains unconfirmed as well. For now, the September 8 launch will serve as the first major test of Rockstar’s officially supported roleplaying project, while the broader GTA community waits for details about when it could become accessible to more players.
