Pixel 11 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S26: Google’s Pixel 11 Pro and Samsung’s Galaxy S26 may look like natural rivals on paper, but a hands-on comparison by PhoneArena’s Victor Hristov finds the two compact flagships pulling in very different directions. After using both phones for at least a week and putting them through PhoneArena’s battery and camera testing, Hristov came away favouring the Pixel in several areas that matter in everyday use, even though Samsung retains a clear advantage in weight, raw performance and price.

Both phones use 6.3-inch displays, making them considerably more compact than larger flagship models. The similarity largely ends there. The Galaxy S26 weighs 167 grams and measures 7.2mm thick, while the Pixel 11 Pro comes in at 204 grams and 8.4mm. That 37-gram difference is immediately noticeable, giving Samsung the edge for buyers who place a premium on a light, pocketable phone.

The Pixel, however, uses that extra bulk to its advantage in other areas.

Pixel 11 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S26: The biggest camera difference is hiding in the telephoto sensor

Both devices carry triple rear-camera systems, but the hardware behind those cameras is notably different.

The Pixel 11 Pro uses a 50MP main camera with a 1/1.3-inch sensor, while the Galaxy S26 has a 50MP main camera with a smaller 1/1.56-inch sensor. The difference becomes far more pronounced with zoom photography. Google equips the Pixel 11 Pro with a 48MP periscope telephoto camera offering 5x optical zoom and a 1/1.95-inch sensor.

Samsung’s S26 uses a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and a much smaller 1/3.94-inch sensor.

PhoneArena calculates that the Pixel’s telephoto sensor has nearly four times the area of the one inside the Galaxy. In practical use, the comparison found that this helped the Pixel produce cleaner detail and less noise in darker conditions.

Its camera scoring reflected that advantage. The Pixel 11 Pro received an overall PhoneArena Camera Score of 156 against 149 for the Galaxy S26, with the most noticeable separation appearing in zoom quality. The review also found better dynamic range and slightly stronger detail from the Pixel overall.

Google has also added more control over the final look of photographs. Pixel 11 Pro users can alter aspects such as colour treatment and sharpness, including choosing more neutral, vibrant or shadow-heavy results. The comparison contrasts this with Samsung’s more fixed image treatment.

Samsung answers with a much faster processor

Where the Pixel pulls ahead in cameras, Samsung responds with performance.

The Pixel 11 Pro runs Google’s Tensor G6, while the Galaxy S26 uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in the US and Samsung’s Exynos 2600 internationally. The unit used for PhoneArena’s comparison was the Exynos 2600 model. Both phones have 12GB of RAM in their base configurations.

The benchmark gap was substantial.

In Geekbench 7, the Galaxy S26 scored 2,726 in the single-core test against 2,332 for the Pixel. The difference widened dramatically in multi-core testing, where Samsung posted 10,652 compared with 6,438 for Google.

GPU testing produced an even larger separation. In the higher 3DMark Extreme run, the Galaxy recorded 6,607 compared with 3,499 for the Pixel 11 Pro. PhoneArena concluded that the Exynos 2600 held a clear lead in CPU and gaming performance.

Interestingly, the Pixel did finish ahead in PhoneArena’s AI-Quantized benchmark, scoring 3,881 against the Galaxy S26’s 3,436.

Pixel trades extra weight for a bigger battery

Battery capacity tells a similar story to the phones’ physical dimensions.

The Pixel 11 Pro carries a 4,850mAh battery, compared with 4,300mAh in the Galaxy S26. PhoneArena describes that as a difference of nearly 13 percent in Google’s favour. In its video-streaming test, the Pixel lasted just over 11 hours, compared with roughly nine hours for the Galaxy S26.

Charging is slightly faster on the Pixel too. Google’s phone supports 30W wired charging, while Samsung’s reaches 25W. Both support wireless charging, but the Pixel 11 Pro also includes built-in magnets and Qi2.2 support.

The review also gave the Pixel a narrow advantage in speaker richness, bass and haptic feedback, although audio quality was described as broadly comparable between the two phones.

The Galaxy S26 still has one difficult advantage to ignore

Price could ultimately reshape the decision.

The Pixel 11 Pro starts at $1,100 for 256GB, while the Galaxy S26 carries a $900 MSRP. Both base models begin with 256GB of storage and are available with a 512GB option.

That makes Samsung the easier proposition for someone who wants a compact flagship at a lower price, especially when its lighter body and significantly faster processor are taken into account.

The Pixel 11 Pro makes its case differently. It is heavier, thicker and more expensive, but the comparison found meaningful advantages in camera performance, particularly zoom, along with a larger battery, slightly faster wired charging and magnetic wireless charging.

For buyers choosing between the Pixel 11 Pro and Galaxy S26, the decision is therefore less about which compact Android flagship is universally better and more about which compromises matter least. Samsung offers the lighter and faster phone for less money.

Google asks buyers to carry 37 extra grams and spend $200 more in exchange for a stronger camera setup and several practical hardware advantages.
