Ahmedabad: Uber is moving deeper into India’s technology ecosystem with plans to set up its first Uber India data center in the country in partnership with the Adani Group, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi announced after meeting Gautam Adani in Ahmedabad.
Khosrowshahi said the meeting helped the two sides build on their existing partnership and underlined India’s growing role inside Uber’s global technology roadmap.
“Great to meet Gautam Adani in Ahmedabad this morning and build on our existing partnership with the Adani group,” the Uber CEO said in his post. He added that India is fast emerging as a leading innovation hub for Uber and that the company is setting up its first data center in the country with the Adani Group to test and deploy its technology.
The data center, according to Khosrowshahi, is expected to be ready later this year. He said the investment will help Uber build at scale “from India, for the world.”
Gautam Adani responded warmly to the meeting and described Khosrowshahi as a friend. In his reply, Adani praised Uber’s global performance and said the partnership between the two sides continues to grow.
“A great pleasure to meet my friend Dara,” Adani wrote, adding, “What a run Uber is having! Magnificent performance globally! Our partnerships continue to grow.”
The exchange between the two business leaders points to a strengthening relationship between Uber and the Adani Group. While neither post shared financial details of the investment, capacity plans, location specifics, or technical specifications of the data center, the announcement confirms Uber’s intent to create a dedicated data infrastructure footprint in India through the Adani partnership.
For Uber, the move also reflects a broader confidence in India’s technology talent and innovation environment. By describing India as a “leading innovation hub,” Khosrowshahi positioned the country as more than an operational market. The focus appears to be on building and deploying technology at scale, with India acting as a launchpad for global systems.
For the Adani Group, the announcement adds another layer to its growing set of partnerships with global companies. Adani’s reply did not share operational details, but his public response made clear that the group sees the Uber relationship as expanding.
The new data center is scheduled to come into operation later this year. As per the available information until the companies reveal more about the project, the known facts are the collaboration, the first-of-its-kind data center project for India, the gathering in Ahmedabad, and the intention to use the data center to try out Uber technologies.
Still, the message from both sides was clear: Uber wants India to play a larger role in its global technology journey, and the Adani Group is set to be a key partner in that push.
