Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S27 has cleared certification from India’s Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), signalling preparations for its eventual launch in the country. The device, carrying model number SM-S952B/DS, is the first smartphone in the Galaxy S27 lineup to receive Indian regulatory approval.

Although the certification does not reveal any hardware details or confirm an official launch date, it provides an early indication that Samsung is preparing the device for the Indian market. The development comes ahead of the expected global unveiling of the Galaxy S27 series in early 2027.

Galaxy S27 Certification Points to Early 2027 Launch

Samsung generally introduces its flagship Galaxy S series in January or February through its Galaxy Unpacked events. If the company follows its established launch schedule, the Galaxy S27 lineup could make its global debut during the same period in 2027.

The BIS approval suggests that preparations for the Indian market are progressing. However, the certification of the standard Galaxy S27 does not establish launch dates for the other expected models in the series.

Exynos 2700 and 50MP Sony Camera Among Leaked Specifications

While Samsung has not officially disclosed the Galaxy S27’s specifications, earlier database listings and leaks have offered some details about its expected hardware.

The smartphone is tipped to feature a 6.3-inch AMOLED display and an Exynos 2700 processor. It could come with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

Camera leaks suggest that Samsung may use a 50MP Sony sensor as the primary camera, potentially replacing the ISOCELL sensor used in the Galaxy S26. The expected camera setup also includes a 12MP ultrawide sensor, a 10MP telephoto camera and a 12MP front-facing camera.

The charging specifications, however, may not see a major change. The Galaxy S27 is tipped to retain 25W charging, matching its predecessor.

What the BIS Listing Confirms

The BIS certification is an important regulatory milestone for Samsung’s upcoming flagship, particularly for its India launch preparations. However, it should not be treated as confirmation of the leaked specifications or an indication that the smartphone is ready for an immediate release.

For now, the model number and certification status are the key confirmed details, while the processor, camera configuration, memory and charging capabilities remain based on leaks.

With the expected 2027 launch window approaching, further certifications and official announcements could provide a clearer picture of Samsung’s plans for the Galaxy S27 lineup.
