In a major reported development, the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has decided to rename the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar as Narendra Modi International Airport, after Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Located in Gautam Buddha Nagar, the airport is one of India’s major aviation infrastructure projects, aimed at improving connectivity across Delhi-NCR and western Uttar Pradesh.

The reported decision marks a significant development in the airport’s identity ahead of its full-scale operations.

Development of Jewar Airport has been going on for many years now, with the foundation stone laid by Prime Minister of India, Mr Narendra Modi on 25th November 2021. This airport is located in Gautam Buddha Nagar. This airport will provide relief from the pressure that has been put on Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.

The first phase of this airport is estimated to be able to accommodate up to 12 million people in one year and then later expand up to 70 million passengers. Apart from the benefits of flying, it will also bring job opportunities and investments to the area.
