Apple has made colour and camera two of the most noticeable talking points in its latest iPhone lineup. The newly introduced iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max arrive in four finishes, while the company’s first foldable iPhone, iPhone Duo, takes a much simpler approach with two colour options.

The difference is particularly interesting because Apple has paired the visual changes with very different camera systems. The Pro models focus heavily on photography controls, while the iPhone Duo uses its foldable design to introduce new ways of taking photos and videos.

iPhone 18 Pro Colours: Burgundy Leads the New Lineup

The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are available in four finishes: Burgundy, Glacier, Silver and Black.

Burgundy is the new addition to the range, giving the Pro models a deeper red appearance compared with the more traditional finishes. Black and Silver offer more understated choices, while Glacier gives the lineup a lighter look.

The same four finishes are available across the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Burgundy is also prominently featured in Apple’s product material, giving the Pro lineup a more distinctive look this year.

For buyers who want their phone to stand out, Burgundy is likely to be the most noticeable option, while Black and Silver remain more conventional choices.

iPhone 18 Pro Camera Gets the Biggest Hardware Change

The camera system is where the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max make one of their most notable moves.

Both models feature a 48MP Fusion Main camera with variable aperture. The Pro camera system also includes a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide and a 48MP Fusion Telephoto camera.

The variable-aperture Main camera gives the system additional control over how much light enters the lens. Apple has also highlighted Pro-level camera controls as part of the new setup.

For selfies and video calls, both Pro models feature an 18MP Center Stage front camera. The camera system also supports Ultra-stabilized video and Dual Capture.

Rather than simply focusing on megapixel numbers, Apple has built the iPhone 18 Pro camera around a combination of high-resolution sensors and greater control.

iPhone Duo Colours: Star White and Night Sky

The iPhone Duo takes a completely different approach to colour.

The foldable iPhone is available in two colours: Star White and Night Sky.

Night Sky gives the phone a darker appearance, while Star White provides a much lighter alternative. Unlike the iPhone 18 Pro lineup, which gives buyers four finishes to choose from, iPhone Duo keeps the selection limited to two.

The two colours give the first foldable iPhone a simpler visual identity compared with the Pro models.

iPhone Duo Camera Takes a Different Route

The iPhone Duo does not use the same camera setup as the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max.

Instead, it comes with a 48MP Dual Fusion camera system, made up of a 48MP Fusion Main and a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera.

The foldable design also changes how the camera can be used. Apple has introduced features such as Duo Preview, Kid Cue, Duo FaceTime and Smart Take.

Smart Take can detect when everyone is ready and capture the picture, while Duo Preview is designed to help people see how they appear before a shot is taken.

The iPhone Duo can also capture 48MP photos and 4K video at 120 frames per second, adding strong video capabilities to its foldable design.

Two Different Ideas of an iPhone Camera

The colour choices make the difference between the two devices easy to see. The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max offer four finishes, with Burgundy serving as the standout new option. The iPhone Duo offers only Star White and Night Sky, keeping its appearance more limited.

The camera strategy is equally different. The Pro models have a three-camera 48MP system with a variable-aperture Main camera, Ultra Wide and Telephoto cameras. The Duo uses two 48MP Fusion cameras but adds photography features designed around its foldable form factor.

For Apple buyers, the choice is therefore not simply between four colours and two colours. It is also between a traditional Pro camera setup with more dedicated lenses and a foldable camera experience built around the flexibility of the Duo.
