iPhone 18 Pro Price: Apple’s next Pro iPhones could arrive with a noticeably higher entry price, with early estimates pointing to a particularly steep increase for buyers in India.

Ahead of Apple’s September 9 event, pricing expectations for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max have begun to take shape. None of the figures are official yet, but the estimates suggest Apple may move its premium iPhone range further up the pricing ladder in both the United States and India.

The iPhone 17 Pro started at $1,099 in the US and ₹1,34,900 in India. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has indicated that the next-generation iPhone 18 Pro could become $100 more expensive in the US, putting its starting price at about $1,199. In India, reports have suggested a starting point of around ₹1,44,900.

That would represent a ₹10,000 increase over the current Indian starting price.

The bigger question is whether Apple stops there.

iPhone 18 Pro could move closer to ₹1.55 lakh in India

Some estimates point to a more aggressive pricing scenario. The iPhone 18 Pro has been tipped to start between $1,249 and $1,299 in the US, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max could open at roughly $1,349 to $1,399. These remain estimates rather than confirmed Apple prices.

For India, one scenario places the iPhone 18 Pro at approximately ₹1,44,900, reflecting a ₹10,000 increase. A steeper adjustment of around ₹20,000 would push the starting price to roughly ₹1.55 lakh, with the Pro Max expected to sit higher still.

The range matters because it shows just how wide the gap remains between the more conservative and aggressive pricing expectations before Apple makes the numbers official.

At the lower end, the change would be a straightforward continuation of premium pricing. At the upper end, the iPhone 18 Pro would enter a substantially more expensive bracket for Indian buyers.

Apple’s recent hardware pricing offers some context

Recent Apple pricing changes provide one reason expectations are running high.

The company increased the US price of the MacBook Neo by $100, from $599 to $699, while its Indian price went up by ₹10,000. The MacBook Air M5 saw an even larger ₹30,000 increase in India, alongside a $200 rise in the US.

Those increases do not confirm what Apple will do with the iPhone 18 Pro. They do, however, provide a recent reference point for how price revisions can differ significantly across markets.

Component and RAM costs are also cited among the factors behind expectations of a higher iPhone price, alongside the anticipated introduction of Apple’s A20 Pro chip using a 2nm process.

For global buyers, that makes the iPhone 18 Pro launch as much a pricing story as a specifications story.

What buyers may get for the higher price

The expected hardware changes could help explain why Apple’s Pro models are being linked with higher prices.

Both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to use the new A20 Pro chip. The phones could also receive an improved vapour chamber cooling system intended to handle heat more effectively during demanding workloads such as gaming and AI-related tasks.

Another potential change is a smaller Dynamic Island. Some Face ID components could reportedly move beneath the display, freeing up additional screen space.

The most significant camera change currently being discussed concerns the iPhone 18 Pro Max. It could receive a mechanical or variable-aperture camera, allowing the system to regulate how much light enters the lens while giving photographers greater control over depth of field. Reports have also suggested that the feature could eventually reach both Pro models, although the Pro Max is currently the model most closely associated with the upgrade.

A larger battery is also being discussed for the Pro Max, potentially accompanied by a slightly thicker body. Dark Cherry and Light Blue have surfaced as possible new colour options.

Price remains the number to watch

Until Apple announces the phones, there are effectively two broad pricing scenarios in play.

A more restrained increase would put the iPhone 18 Pro at about $1,199 in the US and around ₹1,44,900 in India. A more aggressive outcome could take the US price into the $1,249 to $1,299 range and move the Indian starting price closer to ₹1.55 lakh.

For the iPhone 18 Pro Max, current estimates place the US starting price between roughly $1,349 and $1,399, while no confirmed Indian figure has been provided.

That distinction is important. The numbers circulating before the event are leaks and estimates, not official retail prices.

Apple is scheduled to hold its September 9 event at 10:30 pm IST, when the final pricing and specifications are expected to become clear. The company is also expected to introduce its first foldable iPhone, reportedly called the iPhone Duo, alongside new Apple Watch and AirPods models.

For now, the iPhone 18 Pro’s potential price increase is shaping up to be one of the biggest questions around the launch, particularly in India, where even the more conservative estimate already points to a five-figure increase in rupee terms.
