X has opened applications for its Original Content Rewards programme to all eligible creators, marking a clear shift in how the platform plans to reward creators for the content they publish.
The company announced that eligible creators can now apply for Original Content Rewards, or OCR, directly through Creator Studio.
At the same time, X confirmed that its Revenue Sharing programme has officially been sunset. The final payout under Revenue Sharing is scheduled for Friday, September 11.
For creators who were already enrolled in Revenue Sharing, there is another important date to note. Those who apply for Original Content Rewards and are approved are expected to receive their first OCR payout on September 25.
The announcement effectively places Original Content Rewards at the centre of X’s creator monetisation push following the end of Revenue Sharing.
For creators, the immediate change is straightforward. Those who meet X’s eligibility requirements can now submit an application for the new rewards programme through Creator Studio. Creators previously participating in Revenue Sharing will see their final payment from that programme before the transition to OCR payouts begins for approved applicants.
X did not provide additional details in the announcement about payout amounts, individual earning potential or further conditions attached to the programme.
The wording of the update, however, puts a clear emphasis on original content as X moves away from its previous Revenue Sharing system.
Creators currently assessing the transition have two dates to watch: September 11 for the final Revenue Sharing payout and September 25 for the first Original Content Rewards payout for previously enrolled creators who receive approval.
With applications now open to all eligible creators, the next stage of X’s creator rewards model has officially begun.
