Global student living technology startup House of Student has secured $2 million in a seed funding round through a combination of equity and debt. The investment was co-led by Saltwater Sutra and Nirmitsu Inspirational Ventures, with participation from Gautam Verlekar, Glen Fernandes, Richard McCallum, Ali Moosa, and existing investor Unilodgers.

The newly raised capital will be used to strengthen the company’s technology platform, expand its global housing inventory, enhance artificial intelligence capabilities, and support its international growth plans. The company shared these details in an official announcement.

Building a Technology-Driven Student Housing Ecosystem

Founded in February 2025 by entrepreneur Vaibhav Verma, House of Student operates a technology platform focused on helping students find accommodation across major international education destinations. The platform enables students to search for and book housing online while also providing tools for managing student housing networks.

As part of its long-term strategy, the company also plans to introduce AI-enabled student support services aimed at improving the overall student accommodation experience.

The latest funding is expected to help the startup further develop its technology infrastructure and expand the range of services available to students studying abroad.

Founder Brings Experience from Student Housing Sector

House of Student was founded by Vaibhav Verma, who previously established Unilodgers, a student accommodation marketplace. According to the company, Unilodgers was the world’s first student housing marketplace and achieved a valuation of $109 million during its first institutional funding round.

Drawing on that experience, Verma launched House of Student with a focus on creating a technology-first platform that simplifies the process of finding student accommodation across multiple countries.

The company is positioning itself as a global platform that combines digital booking capabilities with property network management while preparing to expand into AI-powered services.

Presence Across Major Global Education Markets

House of Student currently operates from Gurugram and the United States. According to the company, its platform provides access to more than 2.5 million verified student rooms spread across over 25 countries.

Its network covers several of the world’s leading study destinations, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, and 18 countries across Europe.

By maintaining a broad inventory across multiple international markets, the platform aims to support students seeking accommodation before they relocate for higher education.

Focus on Product Innovation and AI Expansion

The company plans to use the newly secured funding to enhance product development and strengthen its artificial intelligence capabilities. AI is expected to play a larger role in the company’s future offerings, particularly through student support services designed to improve the accommodation journey.

In addition to technology investments, House of Student intends to increase its housing supply, allowing students to access a wider range of verified accommodation options across global education hubs.

The funding will also support the company’s broader international expansion strategy as it continues to grow its presence in existing and new markets.

Competing in a Growing Student Accommodation Market

House of Student operates in the global student accommodation technology sector, where digital platforms are increasingly helping students secure housing before arriving in their destination countries. The company competes with platforms such as Uhomes, Amber, and Uniplaces, all of which offer technology-driven solutions for international student housing.

With fresh seed funding in place, House of Student is focusing on expanding its platform, strengthening its technology capabilities, and increasing its global reach. The investment is expected to support the company’s next phase of growth as it works to enhance student accommodation services through product innovation, AI integration, and a broader international housing network.
