Fanon, a platform built around fandom storytelling and community discussions, has raised $1 million in a pre-seed funding round co-led by Kalaari Capital and Gruhas. The early-stage investment marks a significant step for the company as it looks to strengthen its presence in the rapidly growing fan-driven content space.
The company stated that the funds will primarily be used to expand its user base across both its app and website, with a target of surpassing one million users. In addition, Fanon plans to develop monetization opportunities for creators and scale its teams across product development, marketing, and technology functions.
A Platform Built for Creative Fan Expression
Founded in 2024 by Jatin Nayak, Nesar Rao, and Arvindmani Satyanarayan, Fanon offers a dedicated space for fans to reimagine and expand on existing fictional universes. The platform allows users to create and share alternate storylines inspired by popular movies, television shows, anime, games, and books.
By combining multiple formats such as fanfiction, comics, videos, and interactive discussions, Fanon aims to bring diverse forms of fan expression into a single ecosystem. The platform is designed to make it easier for users to discover new content and engage with like-minded communities around shared interests.

Wide Range of Popular Fandoms
Fanon currently hosts content across more than 250 fandoms, covering globally recognised titles such as Harry Potter, Marvel, Hazbin Hotel, My Hero Academia, The Lion King, and Undertale. This wide variety reflects the platform’s focus on catering to diverse fan interests across genres and formats.
The company has grown its user base to over 150,000 globally. A large portion of its audience belongs to Gen Z, with a strong representation of female users. Geographically, most users are based in regions including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and parts of Europe.
Strong Engagement Signals From Early Users
The platform has reported encouraging engagement metrics as it continues to scale. Its top ten stories have collectively generated more than 1.5 million views, indicating strong interest in fan-created narratives. Users are also spending an average of 20 minutes daily on the platform, suggesting consistent interaction with content and community features.
These early indicators highlight the growing appeal of structured platforms that allow fans not only to consume content but also to actively participate in storytelling.
Expanding Opportunities for Creator Monetization
A key focus area for Fanon is building sustainable monetization channels for creators. As part of its roadmap, the company plans to introduce features that allow fan creators to earn from their work while continuing to engage their audiences.
This aligns with broader trends in the digital content ecosystem, where platforms are increasingly prioritising tools that support creator income and long-term engagement.
Strategic Collaboration With Baahubali Studio
Fanon has also entered into a partnership with Arka Media Works, the production house behind the Baahubali franchise. Through this collaboration, fans can create and monetise alternate storylines using characters from the Baahubali universe.
This partnership reflects a growing openness among content studios to explore fan-driven storytelling as a way to extend the life and reach of established intellectual properties.
Riding the Wave of Fandom Content Growth
Fandom and fanfiction-related content continues to see massive traction online, with more than 500 billion views generated annually across major social platforms, according to market research. This scale highlights the increasing influence of fan communities in shaping digital entertainment trends.
Fanon’s model is built to tap into this momentum by offering a structured environment where storytelling, discovery, and community interaction come together. With fresh funding in place and a clear focus on user growth and creator support, the company is positioning itself to play a larger role in the evolving fandom ecosystem.
