Protect Prometheus, an artificial intelligence lab co-led by Jeff Bezos, has raised $10 billion in a new funding round, according to a report by Bloomberg. The investment includes participation from major financial institutions such as JPMorgan Chase and BlackRock, though no single lead investor has been identified. Following the round, the company is valued at approximately $38 billion.
The lab, also referred to as Project Prometheus, is focused on building advanced AI tools designed to assist in the design and manufacturing of physical products. Unlike many AI startups that concentrate on software applications, Prometheus is targeting industries such as manufacturing and engineering, where AI adoption remains relatively underdeveloped.
Investor Interest Extends Beyond Silicon Valley
The funding round has drawn attention for its diverse mix of backers. In addition to traditional technology investors, the company has attracted capital from private equity firms and sovereign wealth funds with strong ties to industrial sectors. This reflects a broader shift in AI investment toward applications in real-world production and infrastructure.
Among the technology-focused participants are firms like DST Global and ARCH Venture Partners, both known for backing high-growth innovation-driven companies. The involvement of such investors highlights confidence in the company’s approach to applying AI in industrial settings.

Bezos Takes Active Leadership Role Again
After stepping down as CEO of Amazon in 2021, Bezos has returned to an executive role through this venture. He is currently serving as co-CEO alongside Vik Bajaj, a former executive at Google. Reports indicate that Bezos is deeply involved in the company’s day-to-day operations and works closely with Bajaj on strategic decisions and long-term growth plans.
The company is also actively exploring opportunities to expand its investor base. Discussions have taken place with sovereign wealth funds in regions such as the Middle East and Singapore, signaling an effort to secure global financial backing aligned with industrial development goals.
According to a report by The Wall Street Journal published in March, Bezos traveled to both regions to engage with potential investors. These meetings were aimed at strengthening financial support for the company’s long-term ambitions.
Building AI for Real-World Physics and Engineering
At the core of Project Prometheus is the development of AI systems capable of simulating real-world physical behavior. These systems are designed to model complex scenarios, such as airflow around an aircraft wing or the structural stress points where a metal component might fail under pressure.
This focus on physical simulation represents a significant step beyond conventional AI use cases. By enabling more accurate predictions in engineering and manufacturing, the technology aims to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product reliability.
To support this effort, the company has recruited talent from leading AI organizations, including OpenAI and Google DeepMind. These hires bring expertise in machine learning and advanced modeling techniques, strengthening the company’s technical foundation.
Strategic Integration Across Business Ventures
Project Prometheus is not just a standalone technology initiative. The broader strategy involves applying its AI capabilities to businesses associated with the fund. The goal is to enhance operational efficiency and profitability across these enterprises by integrating advanced simulation and predictive tools.
The company has also added industry experience to its leadership structure. David Limp, who serves as CEO of Blue Origin, has been appointed to the board of directors. His involvement brings additional expertise in large-scale engineering and operations.
This approach mirrors strategies adopted by several investment firms that use technology to optimize performance in sectors such as accounting and property management. By combining financial backing with cutting-edge AI tools, Project Prometheus is positioning itself at the intersection of technology and industrial transformation.
With substantial funding secured and leadership actively engaged, the company is set to expand its efforts in redefining how AI can be applied to the physical world.
