Premium baby gear startup Loopie has raised Rs 7.2 crore in a mix of equity and debt, with the round led by Sauce VC and joined by Hyperscale Ventures, Patni Family Office, Panthera Peak and other consumer investors.

What Loopie is building?

Launched in March 2025, Loopie is positioning itself as India’s first design-led premium baby gear company targeting modern parents. The company’s initial lineup includes a stroller (Loopie Hop), a baby car seat (Loopie Lap) and a diaper bag (Loopie Robin). These “fill the gap for the missing middle segment eroded between mass market offerings and high-end imported brands that command high prices.”

In a category where parents often choose between affordability and aspiration, Loopie’s pitch is that premium doesn’t have to mean imported. “There is a clear gap for high-quality premium products in this space,” said Akriti Gupta, founder and CEO of Loopie, adding that new-parent lifestyles have changed significantly and the brand wants to offer “best in class” outdoor gear starting with strollers.

The product strategy: original designs, global manufacturing, in-house identity

Loopie says it is building fully original designs, not repackaged catalogue products. Its stroller was developed with London design studio Moramma; its car seat is manufactured in Germany with a specialist partner; and its diaper bag is designed in-house, according to the company.

The startup also said it plans to deepen its design and manufacturing capabilities with each new launch, an approach that suggests it wants long-term differentiation through product IP rather than competing on discounts.

Why this round fits the moment in baby care?

The funding comes as the broader baby care segment is seeing increased investor attention, with startups experimenting across models, from vertical quick-commerce plays to standalone platforms and premium brands, aimed at demand from nuclear and dual-income households.

For Sauce VC, this is not a first bet. “We are extremely pleased to double down on our conviction,” said Yash Dholakia, partner at Sauce VC, expressing confidence in Loopie’s ability to build leadership in the premium space.

Founder background and early signals

Gupta is an IIM Ahmedabad alum with nearly a decade of experience in baby products, and she said Loopie is building around safety, quality and modern lifestyle needs as the childcare market expands. Loopie also said it is seeing strong customer reviews and early traction across platforms.

The most telling sign of this price rise isn’t the amount of money that comes with the check, it is the implied plan: design control, globally-premium manufacturing for safety-critical product categories such as car seats, and a brand that seeks to own the market for “premium-but-Indian” products. The real test for Loopie will come when the new generation of parents responds to this promise.
