How to Register to Vote in Oregon: Oregon voters have until Oct. 13 to register for the 2026 election, with the state scheduled to begin mailing ballots the following day. Election Day is Nov. 3.

Oregonians who still need to register to vote have less than a month to complete the process before the state’s 2026 voter registration deadline.

The final day to register is Oct. 13, 2026. Oregon will begin mailing ballots to voters on Oct. 14, creating a one-day gap between the registration deadline and the start of ballot distribution. Election Day falls on Nov. 3, 2026.

Registration can be completed online through the Oregon Secretary of State’s website. To qualify, a person must be a U.S. citizen, an Oregon resident and at least 16 years old.

Oregon allows voter registration from age 16

One detail that may be useful for younger residents is that Oregon permits registration beginning at age 16.

Registering at that age does not mean receiving a ballot immediately. Minors who register will not receive one until the next election after they turn 18.

That means eligible teenagers can complete the registration process before reaching voting age rather than waiting until their 18th birthday to begin.

What you need to register online in Oregon

For online registration, voters can provide an Oregon driver’s license or state DMV-issued identification card number.

Those without either can instead provide the last four digits of their Social Security number and a signature.

Not having those identification options does not necessarily end the process. Residents can enter the information they do have online, after which the system can generate a PDF voter registration card. That form must then be printed, signed and mailed or delivered to the appropriate county elections office.

People who prefer not to use the online system can also print a voter registration form, complete it and submit it to their county elections office.

How to check whether you are already registered

Oregon voters can use the state’s MyVote service to confirm their registration status, review registration information and later check the status of their ballot.

Checking registration ahead of the Oct. 13 deadline can be particularly useful for anyone unsure whether their current information is already on file.

Oregon 2026 election dates voters need to know

The election calendar moves quickly once registration closes.

Oct. 13, 2026: Final day to register to vote.

Oct. 14, 2026: Ballots begin being mailed to voters.

Nov. 3, 2026: Election Day.

Dec. 10, 2026: Final election results are scheduled to be certified.

On Election Day, county election offices are scheduled to operate from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. Ballots returned to official drop sites must arrive before the 8 p.m. deadline.

What happens if you return an Oregon ballot by mail?

Oregon voters can return completed ballots through an official ballot drop box, directly to a county elections office or through the mail.

A ballot sent through the mail must be postmarked by Election Day and received within seven days.

Ballots can also be completed and returned before Nov. 3 rather than waiting until Election Day. Oregon’s online ballot drop-box locator is expected to become available 21 days before the election, while MyVote can be used to track a submitted ballot.

For residents who have not yet registered, however, the first date that matters is Oct. 13. Once that deadline passes, Oregon moves almost immediately into ballot distribution, with mailing scheduled to begin the very next day.
