Biryani Bees, a biryani and Indian meals brand incubated by Wolfpack Labs, has raised $1 million from the Vivek Oberoi Family Office, giving the company fresh capital to expand its outlet network and strengthen the operating backbone behind its growth plans.
Rather than immediately attempting a large-scale rollout, the company plans to use the funding to first build its network to 10 outlets and establish that its model can work consistently across multiple markets. Once that expansion model has been tested, Biryani Bees expects to pursue a larger institutional funding round to support a broader national push.
That approach puts the immediate focus on proving the economics and operational consistency of a relatively compact store network before moving into a more aggressive phase of expansion.
Central kitchen takes centre stage in expansion plan
Part of the fresh funding will go towards strengthening Biryani Bees’ central kitchen infrastructure, expanding operations and building what the company describes as a repeatable expansion model.
The central-kitchen-led structure is intended to help the brand maintain consistency in quality and pricing as its footprint grows. For a food business adding outlets across different markets, that operating model will be central to whether the company can reproduce its existing performance while increasing its geographical reach.
Biryani Bees founded by Nitin Tiwari currently has an annual revenue run rate of around Rs 25 crore and says it is profitable, giving the company an existing revenue base as it enters its next stage of expansion.
The profitability claim is particularly relevant to the company’s near-term strategy. The new capital is not being positioned solely as money for adding stores. It is also being used to build the infrastructure and operating playbook needed to determine whether the current business can be replicated across a larger network.
From three outlets to a 10-store footprint
Biryani Bees currently operates three outlets in Uttar Pradesh and plans to grow that number to 10, with Madhya Pradesh and other tier 2 markets forming part of its expansion plans.
The planned expansion will therefore serve as an important test for the brand. Moving from three outlets to 10 gives Biryani Bees an opportunity to demonstrate whether its centralised kitchen model, pricing approach and operating processes can hold up as the business enters additional markets.
The company also says it has developed a strong presence on food-delivery platforms, including Zomato, and claims a high share of the biryani market in the cities where it currently operates.
For now, the company’s roadmap appears deliberately staged: strengthen the backend, expand to 10 outlets, test the model across markets and then seek larger institutional capital for national expansion.
The $1 million funding from the Vivek Oberoi Family Office gives Biryani Bees the capital to begin that process. Whether the next phase leads to a much larger footprint will depend on how effectively the company can reproduce its current operating model beyond its existing three-store base.
