OORJAA, a technology-led logistics platform, has raised Rs 9.7 crore, or about $1 million, in the first close of its Series A funding round. The round was led by Equentis Angel Fund, with participation from Inflection Point Ventures (IPV).

The Mumbai-based startup said the latest round is part of a larger funding exercise and that it is in advanced discussions with a few venture capital funds for the next stage of the round.

Fresh Capital to Strengthen Logistics Technology

OORJAA plans to use the new capital primarily for technology and product development. A key focus will be the expansion of Datashastra, its proprietary AI and SaaS-based logistics technology stack.

The company will also strengthen its control-tower and automation capabilities. These investments are aimed at improving visibility across logistics operations and enabling more efficient management of mid-mile and last-mile networks.

The fresh funding will also support OORJAA’s expansion into new cities and categories, while the company plans to take Datashastra into international markets, beginning with the Gulf Cooperation Council region.

Startup Has Raised Capital Across Multiple Rounds

The Series A funding follows two earlier rounds raised by OORJAA in 2023.

In September 2023, the company raised $1.5 million in a pre-Series A round led by Micello Fund. Capital-A, Java Capital, Anicut Capital and Lead Angels also participated in that round.

A month later, in October 2023, OORJAA secured Rs 5.35 crore in a Pre-Series A 2 round. The funding came from Inflection Point Ventures, Vinners Platform, Soonicorn Ventures and HEM Angels.

The latest investment gives OORJAA additional capital to build on the logistics network and technology infrastructure developed since its founding.

Building a Technology Layer for Urban Logistics

Founded in 2019 by Sandeep Patil, Prashant Mohite, Yogesh Parab and Umesh Singh, OORJAA operates mid-mile and last-mile logistics networks across more than 200 cities in India.

At the centre of its technology offering is Datashastra, which supports functions such as route optimisation, reconciliation and round-the-clock control-tower visibility. The technology stack is also being developed as a standalone SaaS offering for international markets.

OORJAA follows an outcome-linked cost-per-unit model. Instead of charging customers based primarily on the assets deployed, the model links costs to the number of units moved. The company uses this approach as part of its effort to provide more predictable logistics costs for customers.

More Than 3 Million Products Moved Daily

OORJAA says its network currently handles more than 3 million products and 50,000 last-mile orders each day across more than 200 cities.

The company also says it maintains 95% SLA compliance for enterprise customers, with names including Zepto, Blinkit, Amazon and Swiggy.

Alongside its technology investments, OORJAA is deploying electric vehicles across dense urban clusters. The move is intended to help reduce unit costs and emissions as the company expands its logistics operations.

Logistics Startups Continue to Attract Funding

The funding comes as technology continues to play a larger role in India’s logistics and supply-chain ecosystem. Startups in the sector are using AI, SaaS platforms, automation, real-time tracking and data analytics to address operational challenges across transportation and fulfilment.

Other logistics technology companies have also raised capital in recent months. Gurugram-based TrucksUp raised $8.2 million in growth funding to strengthen its technology platform, while Pune-based FreightFox secured Rs 5 crore to expand its transportation management and control-tower platform. EV logistics startup TOCAL also raised Rs 9 crore to expand its operations and fulfilment infrastructure.

For OORJAA, the latest Series A first close is expected to provide further room to develop Datashastra, strengthen its technology capabilities and expand its logistics network in India and international markets.
