Marvel Studios has reportedly found the actor who will lead its next generation of mutants. Kit Connor is said to have been selected to play Scott Summers, better known as Cyclops, in the studio’s upcoming X-Men reboot. The casting would place the Heartstopper star at the centre of one of Marvel’s most closely watched projects, although the studio has not yet publicly announced the decision.
Cyclops is traditionally portrayed as a disciplined field leader of the X-Men and one of the team’s most important members. His addition gives a clearer indication of how Marvel may be assembling the core group for the film.
Kit Connor reportedly secured the role after auditions
Connor’s selection followed a casting process that continued through the summer. A small group of actors reportedly tested for the role in July, with Marvel making its choice after several weeks of discussions.
The actor is also said to have met Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and director Jake Schreier before securing the part. Schreier, who directed Thunderbolts*, is attached to helm the new X-Men film.
Drew Starkey had previously been linked with the role of Cyclops, but those discussions did not result in a casting agreement.
Marvel Studios has not announced a production schedule or release date for the reboot. The lack of an official timeline means several details surrounding the film, including the complete cast and story, remain undisclosed.

A major step for Marvel’s new X-Men lineup

Connor moves into his biggest franchise role
Connor is best known for playing Nick Nelson in Netflix’s Heartstopper. The series brought him international recognition and established him as one of the most prominent young actors working in television.
His other credits include Warfare, Rocketman and His Dark Materials. He also voiced Brightbill in the animated film The Wild Robot.
The X-Men role would be Connor’s most significant franchise assignment to date. Playing Cyclops could involve a long-term commitment, depending on Marvel’s plans for the character and the wider mutant storyline within its cinematic universe.
Connor is also attached to the planned film adaptation of the video game Elden Ring.
Marvel has yet to confirm a release date
While the reported casting represents progress, several major questions remain unanswered. Marvel has not disclosed when filming will begin, when the movie will arrive in cinemas or which characters will make up the final team.
There has also been no official confirmation from Marvel Studios or Connor regarding the casting at the time reflected in the available reports.
Until the studio makes a formal announcement, Connor’s involvement should be treated as reported rather than confirmed. Even so, the development offers the clearest sign yet that Marvel’s new X-Men lineup is beginning to take shape.
