The HandyPanda Story: For most Indian homeowners, construction and renovation are less about design choices and more about endurance, multiple market visits, uncertain prices, delayed supplies, and constant quality checks.

HandyPanda, a Gurgaon-based startup, is trying to make that pain point disappear by rethinking how construction materials are sourced and delivered.

Founded in 2025 by IIT Delhi batch-mates Abhishek Rao (Ex-Zomato), Shaurya Goel, and Shaurya Jindal, HandyPanda is building a quick-delivery service for authentic home construction and renovation materials, promising delivery in under 60 minutes at prices that aim to undercut traditional market options.

From renovation rants to a clear belief

The origin of HandyPanda had nothing to do with a pitch deck and a strong value proposition. It actually started in 2023 as a set of “home renovation rants,” according to the founders. They noticed that as friends and acquaintances undertook home renovations, certain grievances kept arising. They had trouble finding people, a lack of pricing transparency, and concerns regarding authenticity.

Those conversations gradually turned into a conviction: the next generation of homeowners will not accept construction as a painful, chaotic process. HandyPanda was born out of that belief, with a focus on making material procurement as seamless as other everyday services.

An unorganized market, tackled through operations

India’s construction materials market is massive, but deeply fragmented. Local dealers dominate supply, pricing varies widely, and reliability often depends on long-standing relationships. HandyPanda’s response has been to prioritize operations and supply-chain control, rather than simply aggregating sellers.

The startup is currently operational in Gurgaon, where it has been stress-testing its model in real-world conditions. According to the founders, the early days were slow and intensely hands-on. It took nearly 10 days of on-ground sales efforts to secure the first order. Today, the company says it is handling over 60 orders a week, a pace it describes as fast growth for a business still in its early stages.

HandyPanda: Funding to deepen, not distract

HandyPanda recently raised a pre-seed round of funding led by ajvc, with contributions from several angel investors and a number of family offices that deal with the building materials industry. The fundraising was posted by co-founder Abhishek Rao, who made it clear that the startup is still very early and learning.

The capital, the founders say, will be used to go deeper into operations and supply, strengthening sourcing, delivery reliability, and internal systems rather than chasing rapid geographic expansion. Rao also highlighted investor Aviral, noting the speed with which conviction was built, particularly notable at a time when many early-stage investments are filtered heavily through an “AI startup” lens.

Built for real users, not just scale stories

HandyPanda’s service is designed for homeowners, contractors, and service professionals who depend on timely access to materials. The company emphasizes authenticity and predictable pricing as its core differentiators, positioning itself as a dependable utility rather than a flashy marketplace.

The HandyPanda app is live on iOS, with broader rollout underway. The founders describe the product as a work in progress, shaped continuously by on-ground feedback rather than abstract growth metrics.

Gurgaon as the proving ground

HandyPanda is operating within a market where the speed of delivery is immediately challenged, given that they are operating in Gurgaon, which always has residential renovation activities taking place. It seems that the founders of HandyPanda are taking their time to get their act right in one location before they expand, which is a wise move since trust in the market is hard to come by.

Reducing friction, one delivery at a time

HandyPanda’s ambition is not couched in terms of grand technology. Rather, its ambition is based on a singular focus: making construction materials effortless. This could, quietly, change the way the urban Indian looks at housewares.

For now, the company remains early, hands-on, and grounded in operations, focused less on hype, and more on removing chaos from a market that has long taken it for granted.
