As India’s senior population grows, the need for organized, trustworthy elder care is rising fast. From home services to assisted living, several platforms are stepping up. This story looks at the ones making real impact and what they’re doing differently.
Geri Care’s Specialized Elder Care
Founded in 2018 by geriatrician Dr. Lakshmipathy Ramesh, Geri Care Health Services provides an integrated model of eldercare, home care, clinics, hospitals, assisted living, all under one roof.
In early 2025, Geri Care raised Rs 110 crore ($13 million) from private equity firm InvAscent through its India Life Sciences Fund IV. The investment is a minority stake but signals investors’ belief in eldercare’s untapped potential.
With this funding, Geri Care plans expansion across key Southern cities, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi, Coimbatore and is launching new assisted living centres. The centre in Ulsoor, Bengaluru, is particularly notable: 100 beds, medical supervision, dementia and memory care, and a design focused on dignity.
Anvayaa: Tech plus Compassion Across the Miles
Anvayaa Kin Care is a more mature player in this space, providing 360-degree tech-enabled senior care in 40+ cities. Their services cover daily home care, emergency assistance, companionship, doctor-nurse visits, and more.
What sets Anvayaa apart is its model of “Care Manager” for each family, someone who coordinates services, handles emergencies, tracks progress. They also target NRIs (Non-Resident Indians), helping families care for parents living in India from abroad.
They’ve scaled significantly: from operating in six cities a few years ago to 25+ now, with tens of thousands of elders served.
Silver Economy & What’s Driving Change
- Demographics: India’s senior population is expected to reach nearly 347 million by 2050, or ~21% of the population.
- Growing Demand for Trust & Quality: Families want dependable, transparent elder care, ones that are medically credible and emotionally sensitive.
- Policy & Investment Support: Big funding rounds (like Geri Care) and more startup attention reflect a readiness to invest in eldercare infrastructure.
The Future of Elder Care Lies in Balance, Not Speed
- Maintaining quality across geographies: From metro cities to smaller towns, consistency in staff training, medical infrastructure, and service delivery will be crucial.
- Balancing affordability without diluting quality: Costs tend to jump with features, finding models that are accessible will define success.
- Adding specialization: Dementia care, geriatric oncology, rehabilitation, etc., are becoming must-haves. Geri Care’s upcoming centres of excellence point in that direction.
A New Kind of Support System
Platforms like Geri Care and Anvayaa are more than startups, they’re becoming part of India’s care infrastructure for its aging population. In ways that were not possible with earlier models, they integrate technology, empathy, and specialised care. In addition to helping the elderly, they will shape India’s ageing landscape if they can effectively manage development, specialism, and trust.
