Rockstar Games is stepping up its promotional campaign for Grand Theft Auto 6, bringing the fictional world of Vice City into the real world through a new street mural in New York and a specially themed NBA game in Miami. With the November 19 launch approaching, the latest activities point to an increasingly visible marketing push around one of the most anticipated video game releases.
The latest mural has appeared at the intersection of Wythe Avenue and North 11th Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Featuring protagonists Jason and Lucia alongside the stacked Grand Theft Auto logo and palm trees, the artwork gives the upcoming title a prominent presence on a large city building.
The location also carries some history. Rockstar used the same corner to promote GTA 5 in 2013, bringing back a familiar advertising approach ahead of the next instalment. The return to this spot connects the marketing campaigns of the two games while giving fans a recognisable landmark to associate with GTA 6.
Rockstar Brings Vice City to an NBA Court
The promotional campaign is also extending into professional basketball. Rockstar has announced a Vice City-themed Miami Heat NBA game scheduled for November 18, just one day before GTA 6’s launch.
The event will feature a customised basketball court, special team uniforms and installations across Miami. The collaboration brings the game’s fictional setting closer to the real city that serves as its inspiration.
Rockstar has also been distributing merchandise to creators, adding another element to its pre-launch promotional activities. Together, the mural, sports collaboration and creator-focused merchandise campaign are helping build visibility ahead of the November release.
GTA 6’s Leonida Map Promises a Much Larger World
Beyond marketing, recent magazine and Game Informer features have offered more details about the game’s setting and activities.
GTA 6 takes players to Leonida, with its map described as twice the size of GTA 5’s. The game is also expected to feature more than 150 animal species, adding another layer of variety to its open world.
The environment will include a dynamic weather system featuring hurricanes and tropical storms. These weather conditions are part of a broader effort to create a world that feels more active and unpredictable.
Other details include diverse non-playable characters (NPCs), advanced hair and fur systems, and a wide selection of activities beyond the main storyline. Players will be able to explore experiences such as scuba diving and mini golf, giving them more ways to interact with the game’s environment.
Jason and Lucia’s Imperfections Shape the Story
The character development of Jason and Lucia is another important part of the game’s design. Rockstar’s writers have described the protagonists as imperfect individuals who make mistakes, learn from their experiences and influence each other.
Game writer Elizabeth Gauvey-Kern explained that the characters are sometimes wrong but capable of learning from one another. Fellow writer Alexa D’Agostino added that creating characters with individual desires results in personalities that feel imperfect but real.
The writing approach aims to balance GTA’s familiar satirical and larger-than-life storytelling with more authentic characterisation. Rather than presenting Jason and Lucia as flawless protagonists, the game appears to give their personalities and relationship room to develop.
GTA 6 India Price, Editions and Preload Date
Indian players will be able to purchase GTA 6 in two editions at launch. The Standard Edition is priced at ₹5,999, while the Ultimate Edition will cost ₹7,499. Both editions include the complete campaign.
Preloads are scheduled to begin on November 12, giving players an opportunity to download the game ahead of its November 19 release.
Physical copies in India will reportedly contain download codes rather than traditional game discs. Pre-order customers will also receive the Vintage Vice City Pack as a bonus.
PC players, however, will have to wait beyond the initial launch. Rumours currently point towards a possible late 2027 release, although this timeline remains unconfirmed.
November 19 Remains the Big Date for Rockstar
The latest promotional activities come after earlier delays surrounding GTA 6, making the final stretch particularly important for Rockstar and its parent company, Take-Two Interactive. Take-Two has reaffirmed November 19 as the game’s release date, while the growing marketing campaign is bringing more attention to the launch.
From revisiting the Brooklyn location used for GTA 5 promotions to organising a Miami Heat-themed basketball event, Rockstar is drawing on both nostalgia and new collaborations to promote its next major release.
With additional details about Leonida, its weather systems, wildlife and central characters reaching audiences, the campaign is also giving fans more reasons to follow the game beyond its release date.
GTA 6 is now approaching a launch that will bring together years of anticipation, a new setting and a fresh chapter in the Grand Theft Auto franchise.
