Financial Performance and Industry Challenges

TV Today Network’s FM radio operations have been incurring financial losses, recording a loss of ₹19.53 crore during FY 2023-24. The radio segment accounted for just 1.7% of the company’s overall revenue, earning ₹16.18 crore during the period.

India’s radio broadcasting sector has seen growing competition from digital streaming services and shifting listener trends, leading most media firms to reconsider their investments in traditional radio formats.

Industry Impact and Future Prospects

The transaction marks a broader trend in the Indian media sector, where companies focus on digital growth while shedding legacy media holdings. As Creative Channel takes over operations management, market analysts will closely watch how it intends to reposition 104.8 FM stations in major metro cities.

The deal also questions the sustainability of FM radio in India, with several networks finding it difficult to stay profitable in the face of falling ad revenues and shifting consumer habits.

For now, TV Today Network‘s departure from the FM radio arena closes an era in its broadcasting life, while the future of Creative Channel is to be determined.
