Google has confirmed that its first screen-free fitness wearable, the Fitbit Air, will launch in India in October 2026. The company made the announcement on Thursday, August 13, during a briefing held after its annual “Made by Google” keynote.

The event also featured Google’s latest hardware lineup for India, including the Pixel 11 smartphone series, Pixel 11 Pro Fold and Pixel Watch 5. In the US, Google has additionally introduced the Pixel Tag Bluetooth tracker. However, the company has not yet revealed the Fitbit Air’s official Indian price, exact launch date or retail availability.

A Fitness Tracker Without a Screen

The Fitbit Air takes a different approach from conventional fitness trackers by removing the display entirely. Originally launched in select global markets in May at $99.99, the device is designed to reduce distractions associated with screens and constant notifications.

Instead of showing information directly on the wrist, the Fitbit Air focuses on collecting health and fitness data in the background. The screen-free design is aimed at users who want continuous health tracking without having another display demanding their attention throughout the day.

The wearable is built around passive health monitoring and automated data collection, making it possible to track several key health indicators without relying on a traditional smartwatch-style interface.

Continuous Health and Sleep Tracking

According to Google, the Fitbit Air can continuously monitor heart rate, resting heart rate and heart rate variability, commonly known as HRV. It also tracks irregular heart rhythms associated with atrial fibrillation, or AFib, along with blood oxygen levels, known as SpO2.

Sleep tracking is another major part of the device. The Fitbit Air can automatically track sleep cycles, allowing users to monitor their sleeping patterns alongside other health metrics.

Google is also offering additional services with international purchases of the wearable. Customers receive a complimentary three-month trial of Google Health Premium, which includes access to Google Health Coach tools powered by artificial intelligence.

Amazon India Listings Offer Early Price Clues

Although Google has yet to announce the official Indian price, third-party listings for the Fitbit Air have already appeared on Amazon India. These listings provide an early indication of how much the device could cost in the country, although they do not represent Google’s confirmed retail pricing.

The black Performance Loop version was listed at Rs 17,380, while the pink variant appeared at Rs 18,490. These prices were provided by third-party sellers and may not reflect the final price when Google officially brings the wearable to India.

The official Indian pricing is expected to be announced closer to the October launch.

Three Strap Options for Different Uses

Internationally, the Fitbit Air is available with three interchangeable strap designs. The Performance Loop Band is positioned as a lightweight option, while the Active Band is designed with water resistance for users looking for a more practical everyday choice.

The third option is the Elevated Modern Band, which offers a more premium design. The availability of multiple strap styles gives users the option to choose a design based on comfort, activity and appearance.

With its screen-free design and focus on background health tracking, the Fitbit Air represents a different direction for Google’s wearable portfolio. Indian consumers will have to wait until October to see the company’s official pricing, availability and launch details.
